China to NATO: “[W]e will never forget who had bombed our embassy in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. We need no lecture on justice from the abuser of international law…”
Prof. Zheng Yongnian, the acting dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, “NATO is in fact already the most typical case of ‘absolute power’ and ‘absolute corruption’ in international politics.”
There is a fascinating place in Donbass called Slavyanoserbsk—it's part of the historic New Serbia settlement in Novorossia, Russian Empire in 1751-64. This modern monument symbolizes the Serb-Russian-Ukrainian friendship. I'm not sure whether it was damaged during the 2014- war.
This Serb settlement in Novorossia was established by Col. Jovan Horvat who received Russian citizenship escaping a forced conversion to Catholicism (from Orthodoxy). The area was settled by non-Polish Rzeczpospolita natives as well as local Cossacks.
Let's talk about the Italian photojournalist, Andrea (Andy) Rochelli, killed with his interpreter Andrei Mironov on May 24, 2014, by the Ukrainian Armed Forces while documenting the Donbass war. The Italian authorities described these deaths as murder. ilfoglio.it/esteri/2020/11…
At first, the Ukrainian National Guard soldier Vitali Markiv was convicted (24 years) in Italy, but then won an appeal in 2020. The Ukrainian state, also part of the trial as civil responsibility of the attack, was found guilty. cpj.org/data/people/an…
The Italian court held accountable the Ukrainian armed forces guilty of the murder of the journalists, “[T]he convoy of journalists of which Andy was a part was recognized and deliberately attacked with mortar fire by the Ukrainian army.”
One of the int’l human rights groups writing on the war in Donbass *that started in 2014* emphasized the “siege by Ukrainian armed forces,” “killed or injured civilians,” and “indiscriminate attacks.” (sic)
“ISIS-style war crimes” (sic) in Donbass by radical Ukrainian paramilitaries (some of which were later incorporated into the country’s armed forces) were reported in 2014. Where was the self-proclaimed civilized int’l community then?
Children of war hiding in a cellar in Donbass, 2014, is the quintessential image of the region’s suffering that the western establishment would rather ignore. A conflict longer than WWII.

A child celebrating his birthday in Donbass. Three candles stuck in a slice of bread. This one really gets me. 💔
Putin: Ukraine is not just a neighbor, but an integral part of our history, our culture, our spiritual roots--Orthodox Christianity. Many of them are also our family members.
Putin's address regarding Donbass live:
Putin: Modern Ukraine was formed in its entirety by the Bolsheviks right after the 1917 Revolution. Some of this occurred by taking away historic Russian lands. Later, Stalin attached western Ukraine (formerly under German-speaking rule). Then Khrushchev attached Russian Crimea.
Putin: In its early days, Soviet Ukraine was formed based on Lenin's ideas of Ukrainization (by creating Ukrainian culture where there was none before + by adding Russian land). This was part of the Bolshevik strategy to stay in power, eg. the humiliating Treaty of Brest-Litovsk.
