Japan and German government ministers are heading to Qatar this weekend to try to secure more LNG supplies

🤔 Qatar previously said it can’t offer much immediate help as most supplies are tied up in long-term contracts… will that change?

Tokyo area’s power supply is VERY tight right now⚡️ 🇯🇵

Tepco only has 2% of power reserves, as an earthquake in Fukushima earlier this week knocked offline some thermal power plants

This is very abnormal. 9pm-10pm is NOT a peak demand period
This week’s earthquake is a reminder that Japan has very thin power reserves

A lot of oil-fired power plants have been retired, and nuclear remains largely idled (due to the earthquake/tsunami risk)

Shell has just been cleared by Australia's regulator to restart its giant Prelude LNG export plant 🇦🇺👌

👍 NOPSEMA said Shell fulfilled a required direction order
⚡ Prelude closed in early-Dec. due to a power failure
🚢 The facility will provide much-needed supply to the market Image
