Watched the whole show how. Lot of good granular stuff on personnel, deals, ambitions and compartmentalization. Lot of people worked together on projects but had no idea of the full scope or client. A lot of those people are friends, acquaintances and subjects of interest..cont.
Spent a lot of time in Somalia at the camp, knew folks from EO and other gigs. Lost a good friend. Some moved onto other projects and eventually they waved off as they realized these deals were not “wink wink” three letter approved. They were just crazy ideas, often illegal. …
Greystone is the throughline on some of these. Samarus and Salamis were set up to do offshore stuff. And a lot of people assumed that it was like the old days in Yemen and “black” spots. An intel network that fed into US interests that became R2. Then stopped. Then melted down.
I interviewed and spent time with a lot of Greystone/R2/AMC/Opus/Etc people and it’s the same story over and over. Amyntor is even more interesting because it blends Prince/Dewey/Trump people from the 2007 onward lineage.
The trick is to get everyone in a room and wait for the “oh fuck” moment where people find out who they really were working for and who was paying. I have heard it from Libya to Jordan to Malta to South Sudan to Somalia and more. Like I said there is a story in there.
