Just note how cleverly @ShekharGupta has reduced the debate generated by #TheKashmirFiles to one of exodus and boxed it in the period from November 1989 onwards….why November 89? Because that was the month when reigns of Delhi transferred from Congress to National Front!
This attempt of @ShekharGupta to box Kashmiri Hindu plight into a period starting from Nov 89 is a cunning & insidious attempt to shift the blame-येन केन प्रकारेण-to BJP as it was the party supporting NF Govt from outside. In the process he suppressed GM Shah,MUF, 87 & 89 elex!

First let me tell u @ShekharGupta was very much active during those days- although it was Harinder Baweja & Raj Chengappa,who were doing much of Kashmir reporting for India Today those days but as far as my memory goes, Gupta never bothered to write one story in mentioned period
Much of what happened in Jan 1990 had its genesis in the old Kashmir policy of Nehru and Congress but the trigger for the latest round can be found in:
1. Ouster of Abdullah in favour of GM Shah.
2. thus throwing Abdullah in the lap of terrorists
3. Large scale rigging of 87 & 89
