Europe is on the cusp of having a fast detox of its over reliance on Russian oil. The U.S has never really been dependent on Russian energy. As of this writing America is the biggest oil producer in the world, producing a staggering 12.6 million bpd. More than Saudi Arabia.
The EU however is in a mess. They just announced they will cut gas imports from Russia by 2/3 this year. EU countries rely on Russian gas to heat homes, run factories and fuel cars. Germany itself gave up on nuclear energy in its entirety years ago.
To avert economic collapse, oil and gas previously delivered from Russia need to be sourced elsewhere. Russia supplies 1/3 of Europe's crude oil imports and 90% of the gas used in the EU.
Africa has a ton of oil and gas reserves that could potentially provide an alternative. Algeria has the 10th largest gas reserves in the world. Its already connected to Spain with several undersea pipelines. Algeria has already announced it is ready to supply Europe with an
increased supply through the Transmed Pipeline linking Algeria to Italy. Africa's biggest source of energy is Nigeria, which has about a third of Africa's total reserves. Senegal has discovered major offshore fields, as with Mozambique with 100 trillion cubid feet
.and Tanzania with 57 trillion cubid feet. Africa, with some of the worlds deepest gas reserves can step in and fill the gap, breaking European dependence on Russian energy. There is the 5,000km and $25 billion Morroco Nigeria Trans Africa Gas Pipeline Project to export
Nigerian natural gas to multiple West African nations and via Morroco to Europe. From Morocco Nigerian gas can easily be exported to Spain and the EU.
Enter the proposed Nigeria - Algeria Trans Saharan Pipeline Project. Nigeria, Niger and Algeria recently signed an MOU on a 4,500km pipeline, the first step in a $13 billion pipeline project. When completed it will transport up to $13 billion cubic metres of Nigerian gas
...per year, equivalent to about 2/3 of Germany's 2021 imports from Russia.

Africa is sitting on a combined 800 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. China has already cornered Egypt's LNG gas with a long term 15 year contract.
The Morocco Nigeria pipeline could potentially become the main energy artery for Europe, providing it with an important strategic buffer against Russian gas exports.

The already developed western countries were selfishly pushing for a rapid stop to African gas investment
..all in the name of Climate Protection. They havr been placing pressure on African countries to abandon gas reserves and make an immediate switch to green energy, while they ramp up coal and fossil fuel production, enjoying an energy intensive first world living standards.
This is despite the fact Africa generates only 4% of global carbon emissions. In 2021, 29 European countries pledged to stop financing fossil fuel projects in Africa. Now Europe is desperate. Don't be surprised if you see a surge of European investments in African energy.

In order for the African Union to be truly independent in security matters,it needs to have its own military capability. The Nigeria Algeria South Africa Ethiopia Defence Pact (G-4) is designed to be the Guardian of Africa. An African rapid response military force. ImageImageImageImage
We need a force able to respond to imminent threats or quickly react to a crises situation or a stabilization operation anywhere in Africa. The shortcomings of the African Union in this regard means anytime there is a security situation of strategic proportions
external powers .e.g France is obliged to make move and reinforce its presence on the continent. Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Algeria and Ethiopia are the few African militaries that can make rapid deployments independently. The Kenyans have done so with Somalia.

Nigeria is in a good position to capitalise on the current state of affairs in Europe and expand its market beyond Africa by pursuing gas trade opportunities and secure lucrative enemy markets. ImageImageImageImage
Nigeria is Africa's largest gas producer with an estimated 200.4 trillion cubic ft of proven natural gas reserves. Stated in a previous thread is the recent MOU between Nigeria, Niger and Algeria for the Trans-Saharan Natural Gas Pipeline, spanning over 4,138 kilometres. ImageImageImageImage
Just last year Nigeria and Morocco signed an agreement to revive the Nigeria Morroco Gas Pipeline Project. ImageImageImageImage

It's time for the Nigerian government to deploy one Wing Loong II or CH-4 drones to the border with Cameroon. The Wing Loong could be used in night, low visibility to help support border patrol out of the normal daytime cycle. Image
While the drones would be primarily used in intelligence and surveillance operations, their hunter killer capability is more than enough deterrent to both state and non state actors. ImageImage
We can create a virtual wall with drones. Drones allow for real time, high quality video feeds of the ground with their ball camera that can stream live videos or infrared images.. ImageImageImage

Its been less than a year since induction and the A-29s are playing the key role in supporting troops on the ground, even without their full compliment of precision guided munitions. ImageImageImageImage
Absent the A-29 our ground forces who had grown reliant on Alpha jets and Aero L-39 were prone to suffer setbacks. Now they have a bird that can even provide high fidelity ISR on the job. Building a modern and lethal strike capability within the NAF has been the key to success
Before now consistent close air support and battlefield situation awareness was a critical gaps that needed to be addressed. Air Power was gonna be the deciding factor in dealing with insurgents and the Alpha jet was just not designed for close air support missions.

There 70,000 Cameroonian refugees in Nigeria the world doesn't seem to care about. Around 60 Cameroonian soldiers recently invaded the villages of Mairogo and Tosso, harassing and intimidating their inhabitants, refugees in Nigeria.
In January 2022, Cameroonian soldiers invaded Mairogo, warning residents they will be back and torching homes.

In February 2022 Cameroonian soldiers again invaded Mairogo. They severely beat several residents, and arrested and took with them four young people..
In 2017 Zacharia Okana, a political opponent of the regime of President Paul Biya fled Cameroon in 2017 for fear of arrest. He should be safe in Nigeria right?

There is news making the rounds in mainstrean media that Nigeria is paying the cost of the sudden interruption of weapons imports from Russia. One wonders if this just preying on the limited knowledge of some Nigerians in the global arms industry or just genuine ignorance.
The bulk of Nigeria's arms procurement in the last decade has been with China, Pakistan, Turkey, France, Italy and Czech Republic. Russia accounts for less than 5% of Nigeria's arms import. Let's start from the navy.
Our most modern corvette, NNS Unity and NNS Centenary are from China.
