wy was super excited when he first found out he was pregnant. He loved lz and they were both enthusiastic at the idea of becoming parents.

When wy went to the doctors to confirm, he kept it a secret from lz, to surprise him later. He didn't expect lz to freeze at the news before enveloping wy in a hug and thanking him for everything

wy already knew they would love their little bun, but everything felt more real now

wy was so happy to share the joy of their little bun when they were sure his pregnancy was stable. The last thing they wanted was to share happy news only for it to end in tragedy.

wy himself didn't know if he could handle it himself.

everything started great until the aunties started asking him if it was a boy or a girl.

wy was a little taken back at first, before responding that he and lz didn't really care for a boy or girl. They were just looking forward to being parents.

Maybe wy was hoping to have 2 boys and a girl later in the future, but it's not something he shared with lz yet.

Then came the frowns and how wy should pray for a boy. They were all in wy's shoes before and how a boy would make his life easier. They would know.

wy was now offended and wanted to leave the family gathering, even though they were partly here for wy's pregnancy announcement.

lz was still being lectured by his uncle, something that wy found amusing before he got cornered by the aunties.

wy knew lqr has good intentions, trying to teach lz everything he knew about taking care of his pregnant wife, what to do when the baby is born, and raising children in general.

But right now, wy was upset and he wanted to leave with his husband. The lecture could come later.

lz, being the loving and perfect husband he was, sensed wy's mood just a few feet away from him and excused himself from lqr. wy's face must have said it all if lqr took one look at him and dismissed the two of them.

wy will have to remember to thank lqr later.

wy refused to tell lz what upset him so much on the way back home. He didn't want to speak poorly about lz's relatives when they were all so kind to him when wy married into the family.

He knew they were all coming from a place of care and well intentions.

Yet he rubbed him the wrong way that he /needed/ to have a little boy. Bleh to all the traditional mindset that one must have a boy in order to have a standing in the family.

Now he wanted a little girl so he and lz could spoil her like the little princess she is.

But he was also spiteful enough to want a boy and rub it in their face that their worries were for naught.

By the time they were getting ready for bed, wy was fired and spiteful. And may the heavens be merciful when wy is feeling spiteful.

"Lan Zhan?"

"Mm?"

"What if we had twins?" wy asked into the dark silent room.

"I will love all our children," lwj said. It sounded like it was a fact of life, like how stars are found in the night sky.

he found himself teary eyed for how amazing his husband is. Damn hormones.

With his mind set and spite level at max, wy decided he will not let their words bother him. He still doesn't tell lz what happened, but he looked more at ease since wy wasn't upset anymore.

It was a coincidence that lwj had a meeting on the day wy had a check-up.

When the doctor offered to check the sex of the baby, wy almost reflexively said no. But he said yes.

He now held power knowing the sex of his baby but not sharing it with anyone. wy felt a little bad keeping it from his husband, but lz was an understanding man.

"Lan Zhan, if anyone ask if we're having a boy or girl, you tell them we're having a baby," wy said when his husband returned from work.

lz nodded, a little confused and wy couldn't resist peppering kisses all over his confused face.

Aside from lz, the hardest person to keep it from was his sister. wy loved jyl with all of his heart, but if it was going to be petty, he needed to stick with it to the end.

"Mother was asking about the baby," jyl said at Sibling Sunday Brunch.

They all know that jyl was paraphrasing it to sound nicer, but wy wasn't opposed to it.

"Tell her that my baby is strong and healthy," wy said as he rubbed his 7 month large belly. That's all he wished for his baby.

Some parents have grand ideas for who or what their child grows up to become. But for wy, it was enough that they were healthy & happy. It doesn't matter if they were successful in life if they were miserable.

As long as his baby was happy, it matter not if it was a boy or girl.

"I'm happy for you," jyl said, clasping onto wy's hand. "Don't let anyone else ruin your happiness."

"I'll break his legs if he tries anything," jc said, while looking away. He was holding onto wy's other hand at jyl's request. wy didn't need to look to know he's blushing.

wy is trying hard not to cry (damn hormones again) but his siblings is making it hard for him. He loved them so much.

Let it be known that nhs is a menace. wy was also a menace, so it was terrible when they're together.

"A gender reveal party? It'll be the BEST one yet!"

nhs knew exactly what wy wanted and the venue was decked out in pink and blue

lz looked confused during the whole planning process but did his best to support wy in his vision. wy loved him with all his heart, but lz is a terrible liar so wy skipped out on truth behind the party

This time, jyl was in on the joke since wy asked his sister to bake the cake. She was overjoyed when he asked and laughed when she heard the whole plan.

jc was only involved because they needed manpower additional to lz.

When friends and relatives arrived, they all look excited and the sex of the baby was the most popular topic.

wy barely kept his cool when most older people come up to him and said they hoped that it was a boy, but having lz as a solid support helped.

When it was time for the reveal, wy was close to vibrating out of his skin.

lz had his hands over wy's hands as they cut into the cake, almost reminiscent of their wedding. Except this is going to be more shocking than people realizing the perfect lz was marrying the chaotic wy.

Gasps were heard when the inside of the cake was revealed to be purple. Purple balloons were released from the large present box decorations around the room. Purple confetti rained down from the ceiling.

The cherry on top was the banner that unrolled that said "It's a baby!"

wy could cry tears of joy at the different faces around him. lz looked unimpressed and amused at the same time at the whole thing.

lqr's face went through a whole face journey before he sighed in resignation. lxc beside him looked appropriately amused.

jyl and jc were among of the few that were clapping at the "reveal". jc looked so smug before wiping it off his face when yzy turned back to their table, likely muttering about the chaos wy made.

nhs was nowhere to be found and wy assumed he was having the best laugh of his life

Most of the people left when it was socially acceptable. Surprisingly, lqr was one of the people that stayed.

"Will you tell us about the baby?" lqr asked when wy and lz were preparing to leave the venue.

"Sorry uncle," wy said sheepishly but lqr nodded and left it alone.

lz assured him that lqr would be overjoyed with a grandnephew or grandniece. It helped settle wy's heart a little since lqr had been especially supportive when wy's pregnancy was known.

In January, wy gives birth to a healthy baby boy and it was love at first sight for everyone.

After wy got to hold his baby for a brief moment, his little A-Yuan was being passed around like a football so all his friends and family could coo at the baby.

wy was not surprised at how lqr completely melted when he had baby A-Yuan in his arms.

It reminded him of the pictures where lqr was holding baby lh and baby lz.

Logically, wy knew that yzy is a mother of two and also experienced the joy of holding her newborn child. But it took him by surprise when her face softened and she whispered to his baby.

Less than an hour later, the nurse came by and kicked everyone out of his room so that wy could rest.

The next day, wy went home with his husband and baby, ready for a new life as a parent.
