It has been a few days since Freddie left. I have collected some thoughts:
Preface: I'm not a Freddie fanboy. I liked him a lot, but he never made me irrationally giddy like Jason or Ronald.

Also, AA absolutely did the right thing. The Braves are a better team in 2022 & beyond.
1) Freddie's view of how this situation played out is certainly different than what has been put out in the media.

2) I suspect the view of Braves fans who are not extremely online (like everyone reading this) is vastly different than twitter's.
3) I generally don't believe a player leaving via free agency is any more disloyal to his team/city than a team is disloyal to a player they trade. It's all business decisions.  Players have a lot more to think about than we do. We can't assume what is going through their head.
4) Freddie's a grown man. He fulfilled his contract + went above & beyond for the team/city. We owes us nothing. If he'd rather get every penny/be close to family/whatever instead of retiring in Atlanta, the choice (and consequences!) are his alone and none of our damn business.
5) I don't necessarily blame Freddie for being displeased the Braves didn't give him top dollar years ago. He put a brave face on for 2 GMs/1 manager firing, ASG moving, a rebuild where he spent years of his life playing with Adonis Garcia, etc... and then led us to a damn ring!
6) But MLB usually doesn't work that way, and Alex Anthopoulos never does. Freddie's one true mistake in all this was allowing his agent to act under the impression AA would put emotion before winning. (Chipper warned him)
7) Breakups are tough. Even when you know they're for the best. Human beings, that includes Freddie Freeman, have emotions. It's possible he regrets his choices. I'm going to chalk all this up to a man who abruptly lost one of the most important relationships of his life.
8) Even if you view his comments the last week as negative + toss in any other slight- comments about Ronald/hustle (those really irked me), rest rigidness, etc- the good so drastically outweighs the bad. He led us to a ring! We'll watch him catching the 27th out in HOU forever.
9) I imagine his anger is primarily directed at AA (right or wrong), not the Braves themselves. There's probably a good bit towards his agent and maybe even himself for winding up here.

Glavine & Smoltz left after rocky contract negotiations. It happens sometimes.
10) A large number of comments toward Mrs. Freeman habe been disgusting and unacceptable. I, personally, did not do enough to call people out. We as a fanbase can, and should, be better.
11) The idea I've seen #onhere that Freddie won't be received warmly when he returns is bizarre. (I suspect this tie back to #2 and the fanbase as a whole isn't of this opinion) Everyone can fan their own way, but if I were there, I'd be standing and loudly cheering.
12) My hopes for Freddie's ATL return:

- he receives a rousing, prolonged standing ovation for his 1st at bat

- he gets a loud applause every subsequent at bat

- Truist goes berserk as Kenley Jansen strikes Freddie out to secure a Braves win over the Dodgers.

-the end-
