This salary history information that recruiters ask in the course interviews is considered a human right violation in some parts of the world. Some Nigerian recruiters will even insist on having that information to the extent of asking for payslip and bank statements.
If you’re a Nigerian recruiter that plans on working with international clients or “japa-ing”, please avoid asking people about their salary history during interviews.
Jobseekers, if an interviewer (in Nigeria especially, because we are the only ones that insist on unnecessary information during interviews 🙄) should ask this question, please share a range and back it up by asking politely what the range is for their company.
