Just restarted the Google Data Analytics professional course on Coursera, done with part one and moving on. Fun fact, some employers even in USA rate the course as equivalent to a degree in Data Analytics. If you want to take the course, follow for details shortly #DataAnalytics
The Google Data Analytics professional Certificate course is an entry level course that trains individuals to become data analyst from scratch. There is no prior knowledge required as the course will take you through from the basics.
It is structured into eight different courses with a certificate for each course and a final Data Analyst certification when you have completed the entire program with exams and quizzes. It has courses that covers spreadsheet, data visualization, data presentation, SQL, R etc.
Google estimates you need 10hrs per week for 6 months in order to complete the course. So the duration will be shorter or longer depending on how many hours of learning you dedicate per week. You need a laptop most definitely for this course.
To take the course on scholarship/ financial aid, you have to open a Coursera account and fill your profile. Go to Coursera.org, sign up, fill your profile and search for Google Data Analytics, you will see the Google Data Analytics professional course.
When you see the course, click on the financial aid Available after the enroll button. It will take you to a page where you are meant to submit two essays of about 150 words on why you need the scholarship and what the course will do for you
There are lots of samples of Coursera financial aid application on Google, just modify to suit your profile and submit. It takes about 15 days for it to be reviewed and after that you will get a mail when it has been approved.
You have to apply for financial aid for each of the eight courses in the certificate program and you have access to it for 180days after approval for you to complete it. I advise you fill the financial aid for part 1-3, towards completion of part 3 you sign up for 4,5 and so on
Note don't apply for financial aid for courses you are not ready for. This will affect your application for any financial aid in the future
With this you can become a certified Data analyst for free, monthly subscription to Coursera is $39, when you multiply by the exchange rate of 580 for 6months you see it is worth over 130k. So take it serious if you are approved for the financial aid.
There is a scholarship opportunity for aspiring Data Analyst and Data Scientist. The registration and program is completely free of charge. If you are looking for transition into tech and love Data, this may be the opportunity you are looking for. link in thread
