Because they behaved so unreasonably & menacingly, everyone on the left will understandably assume that anything they suggest is unreasonable. I do not know how to fix this. 2/

To the experts, I ask this sincerely. If hand counting is so inaccurate, why do we use hand counts to resolve close elections? Why does the hand count prevail over the machine count? 3/

PS. Despite promoting hand marked paper ballots (pen & paper) for years, I have not (other than in the beginning) aggressively promoted hand counting bc I have never observed a hand count personally & almost every expert I trust told me our ballots are too long to pull it off. 4/

I would like to observe a hand count some day to form my own opinion. Until then, I generally advocate the least amount of electronics as possible, but I am not insisting on hand counting. I’m intrigued though & still wonder if it’s the only way to restore trust. 5/

But again, the details matter. I’m sure it can be done well or poorly. 6/

I’m also concerned about the security of voter registration systems bc, among other reasons, they are online (as are some ballot scanners on occasion). As far as I can tell, the best mitigation is to allow same day registration. But Rs will never agree to that. 8/

9/ This is what I have long advocated. But I would add same day voter registration to mitigate the risk of hacked voter registration systems.
