Talk about disingenuous. You laugh at the joke and moments later you not only hit Chris Rock but then yell the “F” word … twice it seems, bleeped out but understood by a worldwide audience. #Oscars@chrisrock
I recognize that your wife has alopecia and has “chosen” to shave her head. Maybe the joke wasn’t intended as you took it - you laughed when you heard it - but I acknowledge it may have been in bad taste. But, you should have left it alone and later spoken privately to Rock.
Instead you had to flaunt your celebrity and then later bloviate that your life is about love and defending the people you love. Some think your apology to the Academy was about that incident, but it sounded like it was really about your emotions and taking so long to speak.
Of course, you had to conclude with your own joke about hoping the Academy would invite you back. You owe an apology to Chris Rock in addition to the Academy and everyone watching. He may owe one to you, too, but his remark does not excuse your behavior.
Overall, a sad performance and not the message most of us would want to send about conflict resolution to our children.
