He talks about Bandera, the founder of the OUN and today's national hero. Bandera was an ardent "nationalist" and fully in line with the German Nazis. He had received the death penalty from the Poles before the war for the murder of a Polish politician.

Bandera was released. Later the German Nazis took him to Sachsenhausen despite the same sentiments, because they did not want to tolerate an independent National Socialist Ukraine.

Yes, there was an official U.S. govt during WWII. But this did not exonerate Bandera as a Nazi. First, the OSS hid him from the War Crimes Tribunal in order to set up sabotage cells against the Soviets with the help of the Ukrainian Nationalists.
