Morning everyone. Something a bit different for #TwitterBirdsong today. With spring really getting going, here are ten birds to listen out for. #TenBirds

1. Blackbird. Rich and varied and probably standing on top of a tree near you right now, singing its heart out.

2. Robin. Silvery flutings with gaps. You'll hear it at any time of day, but if you hear a bird singing after dark, it is most likely a robin.

3. Great tit. Yes, it's the 'tea-cher!' bird, but listen out for the many variations: 'tea-cher-cher', 'tea-tea-cher', 'tea-CHER' and so on. aka 'tiny foot pump'.

4. Blue tit. Pugnacious, active. Two (sometimes more) slower notes then several faster ones. Again, variations are rife.

6. Dunnock. About three seconds of indeterminate scrabbling then silence. A little bit key-jangly.

7. Goldcrest. Tiny and impossibly sweet, it sings very very high and very fast. Tsee-bada tsee-bada tsee-bada tsee-bada scabba-diddle-oo.

8. Chiffchaff. It says its name. Also beautifully described by @M_Z_Harrison as 'toddler with a glockenspiel'.

9. Goldfinch. Jangling, chirruping, squeaking, whistling wind-up toy that never winds down.
