Contrary to your immediate reaction to the below thread, this is not an #AprilFoolsDay joke.
Two years ago today was the first instance where I had police called on me. The first time I (unknowingly) exercised my civic duty
It started on an empty beach
All indoor and outdoor playgrounds were closed. Schools were closed. Every indoor space apart from grocery stores were also closed. Open, outdoor public spaces were literally the only thing left.
I took 5 children to a local pebble beach to skip rocks. This exceeded the “law” - only groups of 4 people were permitted outdoors at a time
We ran into a friend and her 2 children, chatted for ~10 minutes while the kids ran around for the first time in 3 weeks.
Our friends continued on & I watched from a short distance while the children skipped rocks
An officer approached from behind. Being extremely caught off guard & in disbelief, she said someone called police b/c of a gathering, asked if the children were mine
I informed her that we saw a friend and stopped and chatted but they were now long gone…
I could tell how absolutely silly she felt. But she voiced that she had a duty to follow up on complaints and hoped the person in the complex saw me being “cautioned” & would be put at ease
This was the first time I, albeit semi unknowingly, engaged in civil disobedience against the COVID Regime
And I continued to engage in civil disobedience in my personal life
Because I, too, have a duty
It is my duty as an individual to not comply with the unjust actions of government. It is each of our civic duty to disobey and disregard unjust laws
They should have never gotten away with it then. It is our duty to ensure it never happens again

Yesterday I advocated for my completely healthy children to attend a pediatric follow up appointment (which happened to be at a hospital out of town) -mask free.
A 🧵
We were treated like lepurs. Only those in full PPE could interact with us. We were made ~20 min late while staff, who quickly switched gears once I began recording them, figured out how to accommodate us.
My children remained nude faced and I wore an evidence based super high tech viral blocker (i.e. a shield) so that we could get on with it.
