It sure is, and it was deployed and is used deliberately to get Americans (and others) to accept atrocities. It is and always was A LIE.
That is the greatest evil of the #TantonNetwork. That's also the primary reason they exist, to promulgate and whitewash this horrific lie so its adherents can commit atrocities. They want to harden borders because they think it will help them control the American population.

Entering weaponized disinformation into the public record should be grounds for immediate dismissal by the public. These people are building alternative media and historical ecosystems in order to try to bypass democracy, don't you see?

Remember Mick Mulvaney's role in withholding aid from Ukraine during the Trump administration? CBS apparently doesn't, or else they don't care.
Why would you bring on this person to influence public opinion and culture in the middle of an ongoing global disinformation attack that specifically has to do with Ukraine, @CBSNews? theguardian.com/us-news/2019/n…
Then again, this is the network that inflicted Lara Logan upon us all and now refuses to so much as take a glance at her past reporting even given that her current statements reveal outrageous racist biases. (And I say this as somebody who worked for CBS for years. Vile.)

Gen X knew all along
For those of you who didn't live through this awful time: Someone leaked Anita Hill's statements about extreme sexual harassment to the FBI before Thomas's confirmation hearing and then she was forced to testify about them. She was absolutely publicly pilloried.
