I did a housing shortage and affordability policy for you. Here it is, and you're welcome:
1. No one needs more than one house, but we're a generous lot here in Australia, so you can have two.
So, negative gearing can only apply to ONE investment property. You're on your own with the rest.
2. Five year leases for renters. These renters can have pets and hang things on walls.
You're worried about them wrecking your property? You have a bond for that, and it's the risk you take while someone else's labour pays off your investment risk. That's what the risk means.
3. Build and maintain more public housing with the fund you set up from the capital gains tax you receive when boomers sell off their multiple investment properties that they can no longer negatively gear.
(Guaranteeing part of a deposit on an already outrageously priced home isn't the answer)
(We need to change our housing culture so renters have more stability therefore owning won't be the be all and end all)
(1/3 of this country rents, why is it always about home ownership?!)

I find that after initially going to Spotify and subscribing, I simply forget the podcast is there as I don’t think to listen to pods on Spotify, still.
Hence, haven’t really listened to Armchair Expert since it moved there.
Totally forget it exists until I see something on the socials.
My sister has had this same experience which leads me to think many listeners have, from this sample size of two.
Would LOVE to know whether numbers for pods who’ve migrated exclusively to Spotify have lost listeners, time listening. I’ll bet they have.
