I don’t know. I guess growing up, I always just sort of vaguely believed that if you forced your way into the Capitol during some totally important, official thing, where the VP & Speaker and everybody was there, then the Army would come and just machine gun you all to death.
But it turns out that if you do it in a big Water Buffalo Lodge hat, the guards get all confused, and can’t figure out whether it’s a real thing they should shoot you for, or just some kind of weird joke.
But didn’t you always think something like that? Like, you can’t just burst into these totally important buildings with top government officials in them, doing Constitutional things, because if you do, the guards & the Army will kill you. And that’s why nobody does those things?
The explanation that feels right for the delay in deploying thee National Guard.
The plan was to use them to crack “antifa” heads, and when they didn’t show up, they dithered over deployment because there was to backup plan for explaining deployment without an “antifa” presence.
At least, no plan for their deployment that didn’t admit that Jan. 6 was an insurrection, anyway.
The cover story that there was “miscommunication” over the deployment plans? Please.
Is there really any chance in the world that the DC National Guard didn’t have a dusty binder full of plans for what to do in case of attacks on the seat of American government?
