You’re going to hear a lot of things about #Budget2022, but here’s the bottom line: It’s a plan to grow our economy and make your life more affordable. It’s a plan that invests in people, in a strong economy, and in a clean future. Let me break that down:
We’re going to invest in housing. Over the next ten years, we’ll double the number of new homes built across the country. We’ll invest in rental housing, we’ll make the market fairer for Canadians, and we’ll help young people save for their first home. #Budget2022
We’re also going to invest in workers. We’ll make it easier for skilled immigrants to do the jobs they’re trained for, we’ll make it more affordable for skilled trades workers to move to where their jobs are, and we’ll invest in the skills that Canadian workers need. #Budget2022
On top of that, we’re going to keep supporting Canadian innovation. We’ll attract new investment to create jobs, we’ll make sure companies have the tools and incentives they need, and we’ll help Canadians turn their good ideas into growing businesses. #Budget2022
We’re going to keep fighting against climate change, too. We’ll invest in critical minerals, we’ll make zero-emission vehicles more affordable for Canadians, we’ll make the batteries for these cars and trucks, and we’ll build charging stations across the country. #Budget2022
We’re going to do so much more, too. We’ll continue to advance reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. We’ll strengthen our health care system and improve mental health services. And we’ll make immediate investments in Canada’s Armed Forces. #Budget2022
To sum that up: We’re taking serious action that will grow our economy, create good, middle class jobs, make your life more affordable, and make sure our kids can enjoy a clean future. Learn more about what #Budget2022 means for you and your family: budget.gc.ca/2022/home-accu…

#Budget2022

We’re imposing new and severe sanctions on those responsible for Russia’s brutal, unjustified attack on Ukraine. These sanctions will target banks, financial elites, and members of the Russian Security Council — including the Defence, Finance, and Justice Ministers.
We’re also sanctioning four Ukrainian individuals for their collaboration with Russia to destabilize Ukraine. In addition, effective immediately, we are halting all new export permit applications for Russia and cancelling existing permits.
We’re urgently issuing travel documents for affected Canadians, permanent residents, and their immediate family members – and we’re prioritizing immigration applications for Ukrainians. We’re also launching a hotline for anyone who has Ukraine-related immigration questions.

This evening, I had several meetings that were focused on the illegal blockades and occupations happening across the country. They’re harming the communities they’re taking place in – and they’re hurting jobs, businesses, and our country’s economy. More below ⤵️
First, I convened an Incident Response Group meeting with ministers and officials. We’ll continue to work closely with municipal and provincial governments to end these blockades, and to make sure they have the resources they need.
I also spoke with @DrewDilkens, the Mayor of Windsor, about the illegal blockade of the Ambassador Bridge. We’re committed to helping the Mayor and the province get the situation under control – because it is causing real harm to workers and economies on both sides of the border.
