This is a testimony of Marianna, a teacher from Mariupol who managed to evacuate the city. A must read thread: 1/10 #UkraineWorldTestimony
Until March 2nd, the fighting continued in the suburbs; we still had water, electricity, etc... The situation in the city had worsened significantly since March 2nd, when key infrastructure was damaged by shelling. 2/10
It was cold and dark most of the day. We slept in the corridor on mattresses. We couldn't take a shower or wash our hair – we only used wet wipes and dry shampoo. 3/10
Night shelling of Ukrainian cities by Russian military:
1/3 At about 22:30 in Alexandria (Kirovograd oblast), the Russian military launched a missile strike on the infrastructure of the airfield, said Mayor Kuzmenko. #RussianWarCrimes
2/3 Night shelling in Luhansk oblast: one person was killed and three others were injured.
The central gas pipeline in Severodonetsk has been cut off, there is no water or gas in the city, said the head of the Regional Military Administration Gaidai.
3/3 At night, the Russian military fired on Poltava oblast: one person was killed and another wounded. The infrastructure in one of the villages near Poltava was destroyed, said the head of the Regional Military Administration Lunin.
What is Russian information warfare? Is it responsible for this war? We will try to explain in this thread. #UkraineWorldAnalysis 0/7
Russian information warfare is often called "disinformation". In our view, this concept is somewhat misleading. The goal of information warfare is not to deceive, but to dehumanize. Deception, lies, fake news are just a tool 1/7
Years and decades before this war Russian state TV was dehumanizing Ukrainians, Europeans, Americans etc, preparing Russian society to an idea that a) war is inevitable, b) it is a defensive war c) it is a morally justified war 2/7
There are some important things to understand about the Black Sea, and why the story of Russian warship "Moskva" is important. A short thread 1/5
Russia has either captured or is blocking Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea. Maritime trade plays a huge role for Ukrainian economy, and much of Ukrainian food exports, key for global food security, are going through the Black Sea ports. Now these exports are blocked. 2/5
Russia is violating international freedom of navigation norms; harming other Black Sea countries (including NATO members Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey). Russia illegally turned the Sea of Azov into "its" sea, and is now doing this with the international waters of the Black Sea 3/5
Do you know what impressed the most on the trip to #Irpin and #Bucha? Neither houses nor roads and cars that had been destroyed. No. One small detail struck... 1/4

2/4 We had already been on our way out of the city, and there was a multi-kilometre traffic jam to meet those who were going to clean and repair their homes. People were nervous, smoked, and listened to music.
3/4 And suddenly I noticed one car with an open trunk, completely filled with seedlings. Moreover, it wasn't communal, but ordinary private - the owner went to plant a garden! Can you imagine?
we often hear initiatives to "reconcile" Ukrainians and Russians. Before you start thinking of such initiatives, it is important to remember a few things. Thread. O/5
1. It is not "Russians and Ukrainians killing each other". It is Russians killing Ukrainians on the Ukrainian land, and Ukrainians who heroically resist this criminal attempt to erase the Ukrainian nation 1/5
2. Russians shell Ukrainian civilians, rape Ukrainian women, kill Ukrainian children and destroy Ukrainian cities. Ukrainians didn't come to Russia to make crimes: Russia DID come to Ukraine to make crimes 2/5
