OMG proposed California abortion law will allow mothers (and anyone who helps them) to kill their babies up to 7 days after birth without criminal consequence.

“Perinatal death” they’re calling it. WHO defines this as 7 days after birth.

I’ll chime in on this slap and the lack of arrest, since everyone keeps claiming it’s privilege—

The slap was a battery/assault depending on how the code is written. But the victim, Chris Rock, would have to choose to prosecute. Chris probably let it go for professional reasons.
Chris Rock can choose to prosecute Will Smith later. Misdemeanors usually have a statute of limitations of about 12 months.

Though I doubt he will. He doesn’t seem like the type.
Yes, people can consent to being assaulted and battered. Think boxing or MMA. That’s battery by definition and yet it’s not criminal because the “victim” chooses to consensually participate.

Here, Chris Rock didn’t consent prior to, but may choose not to prosecute afterward.
