The TN GOP Executive Committee was able to disqualify three candidates and prevent them for running for Congress.
This includes the Trump-endorsed candidate Morgan Ortagus – a Jewish female Navy veteran who also served as former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s spokeswoman.
I, along with others, have been recruiting female veterans to run for office.
They have a valuable perspective and can bring an important voice to our debates about how we protect America in a dangerous world.
Cronyism like this from Tennessee undercuts those efforts.
This decision seems like something from the communist Chinese Politburo system where a handful of people - in an arbitrary and capricious manner - can simply deny voters a choice of voting for a candidate of their own choosing.
The Wall Street Journal is right.
The scent of antisemitism also hangs heavy in the air.
Tennessee Republicans should fix this problem. Let the voters decide.

I oppose and will vote against the nomination of Judge Jackson to the Supreme Court.
My decision is based upon her record of judicial activism, flawed sentencing methodology regarding child pornography cases, and a belief that Judge Jackson will not be deterred by the plain meaning of the law when it comes to liberal causes.
I find Judge Jackson to be a person of exceptionally good character, respected by her peers, and someone who has worked hard to achieve her current position.
If it is true that the Biden Administration is talking about repealing Title 42 authority to deport illegal immigrants due to COVID, it would be a nightmare on multiple levels.
▶️It sends a signal encouraging even more illegal immigration, putting the problem on steroids.
▶️It takes off the table one of the most effective tools we have had to deter illegal immigration and help bring order to the chaos at the border.
▶️If you believe there is still a threat from COVID, it would be a complete disaster.
Great meeting with Attorney General Garland today about the way forward on several issues involving Ukraine and Russia including:
➡️Holding Putin and his Russian oligarchs accountable.
➡️Securing the homeland from overseas cyberattacks.
➡️Seeking justice for the many outrages committed against Ukraine.
It is imperative Congress work with the Department of Justice in a timely manner to update our laws and create new authorities to go after the bad guys. We should provide additional funding to have a robust Rule of Law response to Putin.
This decision, in coordination with other economic sanctions, should deliver a crippling blow to the Russian economy.
Today’s decision regarding trading status is by no means an adequate substitute for providing Ukraine with MiG-29 fighter jets to defend their homeland.
The decision to reverse course on sending the MiGs to Ukraine by the Biden Administration emboldens Putin, reduces the capability of Ukrainians to defend themselves and is a complete capitulation to threats made by Putin.
Just introduced resolution condemning the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, & Russian military commanders for committing flagrant acts of aggression & atrocities rising to the level of war crimes against humanity & crimes against the Ukrainian people.
Just spoke with Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman about the Biden Administration’s plans to push back against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
It is important Congress unite to punish and crush Putin and his cronies.
Not only will this help prevent further damage in Europe, but it will discourage other bad actors from going down the same road.
I informed the Deputy Secretary there is broad bipartisan support for an emergency supplemental to include aid to the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian military.
