Hi @SenTomBarrett 👋 This is Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum. And since you’re running to be my representative in Congress I feel obligated to take public issue with this ghoulish, transphobic fundraising pitch. 🏳️⚧️🧵
I thought we had hit rock bottom with @senlanatheis and her fundraising email, but then you had to go and start digging even deeper.
First and foremost, shame on you for texting parents and stoking transphobic fears. Your fear mongering only fans the flames of hate that have wedged their way between Americans.
Secondly, and I cannot stress this enough, NO ONE IS TEACHING KINDERGARTENERS ABOUT GENDER REASSIGNMENT SURGERY. This is a completely fabricated issue meant to prey on parents with obvious political motivation.
This kind of rhetoric is disqualifying to me and many of the voters in this congressional district. I will do my part to ensure that #HateWontWin - not in my backyard. Go crawl back under the bridge you came from! 🏳️⚧️

Hi friends!👋It’s Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum here, just wrapping up this week’s review of the good, the bad, and the ugly being put forth by the Republican Party for their nominee for Governor, this fall. 🧵
We learned about Ryan Kelley and his desire to tamper with tabulators, how he stormed the Capitol on January 6th, and how he fought to keep a confederate statue on display…
Good Morning Twitter! ☕️Before we complete our week-long journey of Republican Gubernatorial hopefuls, I thought it would be best to give you some Honorable Mentions for crazy stuff that came across my radar about these candidates… 🧵
It seems Donna Branenburg, @brandenburg4mi skipped world history class in high school, since she is under the impression that the Nazis were communists
NARRATOR: They weren’t.
Hi Everyone!👋Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum here, continuing on our journey of collecting information about all the Republican gubernatorial candidates since the Michigan Republican Convention is quickly approaching. Today, we will be looking at @GarrettSoldano🧵
Garrett is a chiropractor who quickly became a grassroots darling of the Republican Party. You may remember that he skipped the Mackinac Conference, last year, to hold a rally in Antrim County. mlive.com/public-interes…
He, like many of the Republican candidates, has been very focused on the response to the pandemic, and has spent a lot of time talking about masks, vaccines, and other safety precautions. mlive.com/public-interes…
Hi!👋Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum here again with the third installment of the GOP Governors Candidate series. Today’s spotlight will be self-proclaimed “Quality Guru” @PJQualityGuru 🧵
Perry Johnson was the 13th Republican Candidate to enter the race for Governor and he wasted no time with making a splash. Unfortunately, the Super Bowl ad that he released made several less-than-factual claims, like that he saved the auto industry. metrotimes.com/detroit/perry-…
Those ads, it turns out, featured stock footage of him walking in a school in West Virginia and additional footage that was Russian in origin.
Good Morning👋 It’s Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum, continuing my convention week series on Republican Gubernatorial candidates. Today, I’ll be doing a deep dive on @tudordixon 🧵
The first thing you should know is that Tudor seems to be the preferred candidate of a certain former President… freep.com/story/news/pol…
Hey Michigan!👋 It’s Ingham County Barb Byrum. It’s Convention Week for the Republicans so I thought I would take a few moments each day to highlight the greatest hits of some of the more prominent 2022 Republican Candidates for Governor. Today, we will look at Ryan Kelley 🧵
Now, ordinarily, I will be tagging the subjects of my threads, it’s only fair… but it appears as though Mr. Kelley is not on Twitter, because his accounts were suspended. Not just once @kelleyforgov, but twice @michnextgov Seems like Mr. Kelley doesn’t like playing by the rules.
And speaking of not playing by the rules, you might remember Ryan as the candidate that told a room full of his supporters that they should unplug tabulators on Election Day. Word to the wise: Tampering with election equipment is illegal. mlive.com/public-interes…
