I'm watching the live stream of @UTJasonPreston's event with Roger Stone.
The speaker when talking about guns just said, "We have something in our audience tonight the Democrats don't have. Bullets, guns and God."
So, that event is going swimmingly.
@UTJasonPreston Another speaker just said, "We don't want to overthrow the government. We want to overthrow the people who are perverting the Constitution. We can all agree that Congress is full of people who pervert the Constitution."
Yikes.
Roger Stone, looking like a 4th tier Batman villain, says the election is no longer a fight between Republicans and Democrats.
"It's a fight between light and dark, a fight between good and evil, a fight between the godly and the godless," Stone says.
Stone urges the crowd to call or visit Mitt Romney's office and urge him to resign.
"Let's do it! Let's do it!" yells one person in the crowd.
Stone leads the crowd in a "lock her up" chant.
"Lock everybody up," yells a person in the crowd.
Jason Preston says there will be "an army of patriots" going to Washington.
"We will not comply and we will not back down!" he says to big cheers.
At this point, I'd like to raise a practical question: Comply with what and back down from what?
"We have one of the deepest and darkest deep state threats here in Utah," Preston says.
What is he talking about? I'm so confused.
"Tomorrow is when we show Utah's deep state the door," Preston says.
Can he point them out to me before he does that?
I'd like to figure out who they are.
Why is Roger Stone just standing on stage while Preston speaks?
Preston says the most important thing he'll do in Washington is "light the fire of Liberty in the people."
"If we can create more Steve Christiansen's, more Phil Lyman's, this country will be in good shape," Preston says.
Preston brings Alena Ericksen, who is running for state Senate, on stage.
She sued the state and Davis School District over COVID restrictions for nearly $1.6 BILLION.
She also shares some views with the sovereign citizen movement.
Now on stage is Kish North, the head of the Utah Patriots militia group.
That group's manifesto reads, in part, "We are pioneers, immigrants, and loyal Americans who love God, family, and our country. We fight to maintain its purity."
This has devolved into a rapid-fire open mic night with lots of people coming up to promote whatever they're working on.
Angie Martin, the #utleg candidate who is deeply into QAnon is on the stage now.
Some Republican candidates for the #utleg have taken some extreme right-wing positions, including outright support for the QAnon conspiracy theory #utpol
Martin also has referred multiple times to "frazzledrip," the wild conspiracy theory that claims Hillary Clinton and her former aide murdered a child, cut off its face to wear as a mask and drank the blood as part of a Satanic sacrifice #utpol sltrib.com/news/politics/…
Why is Stone backing Preston? His answer would be devastating in another era.
"The problem today are the gutless, feckless, weak-kneed, lily-livered, corrupt, white wine-swilling, brie cheese-eating, country club belonging, Volvo driving establishment Republicans."
Sen. Mike Lee did a TV interview today in Utah and he was asked exactly one question about his texts with Mark Meadows.
One. Single. Question.
"There were text messages between me and my friend Mark Meadows at the point I was looking into whether there was any truth to whether some states were planning to rescind or modify their electoral votes," Lee said.
That's...not what the texts show.
Lee was actively working to overturn the election results in the weeks leading up to Jan. 6.
The day after the election was called for Trump, Lee texted Meadows to encourage Trump's team to explore every legal remedy available.
