Ding Diaz: I always believe that we should uphold the rights of each and every person in our country, and that includes the right to choose what you want and don't want
Diaz: Making vaccination mandatory is going to be a clear violation of the rights of Filipinos
Diaz: While we may respect the choice or right of the people not to be vaccinated, the government must be able to impose limitations with regards to their movement
Diaz: While I would go against the mandatory vaccination of all Filipinos, still we must strengthen in its right to protect others
Carmen Zubiaga: We could not impose mandatory vaccination to our people because we have the right to choose what is good for us, especially in medication.
Diaz: I agree w/ putting a cap on foreign loan sourcing. Number 2, I'd like to emphasize on gov’t focus on programs that would sour economic development in the countryside
Diaz also supports improved tax collection
Will you recommend lifting all COVID-19 restrictions in PH?
Zubiaga: Kailangan talaga natin yung railways. Mass public transport kailangan natin. Who among us really want to buy a car if our mass transport system is efficient?
Zubiaga proposes a quota for purchasing cars: Kailangan may quota every year because our roads are not suitable for all these cars.
We have to come up with an efficient mass transportation system. I would like to go further. (1/2)
Diaz also bats for an efficient transport system in PH: It will spur a lot of economic activities and development kung magkakaroon tayo ng transnational railway. Yung transit system from Batanes down to southernmost tip of Mindanao, pwedeng marating ng ating mga kababayan (2/2)
Diaz: I've been to other industrialized countries, kahit 'yung mga mayayaman dun hindi nagdadala ng sasakyan. Kailangan ma-control by way of legislation 'yung pagbili ng sasakyan.
Olarte: I will make a law that will increase the public transport system, especially itong mga trains
Olarte: Kailangan mga trains ay well-maintained and dapat the place to be used as itong mga railroad trains ay dadating sa paparoonan. Kailangan ang trains may pupunta sa airport or seaport, business center
Q: What education reforms should be implemented for students to catch up in vital subjects? #CNNPHSenatorialForum
Olarte: 'Yung educational reform should be geared on increasing the capacity of our teachers, their knowledge, to teach science and mathematics (1/2)
Zubiaga: We have to set up an early childcare development center para nasusubaybayan natin ang learning capacity at comprehension ng mga bata.
Zubiaga: The trouble with our system is we prepare children very late, and we could not even catch up on how we can develop the learning styles of children.
Diaz: We should put a lot of emphasis on the training of teachers, educators. I'd like to focus on education sector.
Diaz says he wants to focus on legislative support for the education sector: Kung may sapat na armas ang ating mga educators, mas madali po nilang mapapataas ang kalidad ng edukasyon ng mga estudyante
Diaz: The rights that...the people deserve under the Constitution must be given to all irrespective of religious beliefs, of race, irrespective of kung saan man sila nanggaling
Diaz: With regards to IPs, they should have a legitimate platform to voice their concerns
Diaz: I would like to review the laws that concern the IPs of our country para magkaroon ng efficient implementation
Olarte slams Sec. 56 of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act as 'unfair' to IPs: This is problematic. IPs who have stayed in their indigenous lands before 1997 can be evicted or relocated.
Zubiaga: We have to educate all IPs about their rights. Dapat din we have to build their capacity to fully participate in all decision-making bodies at the local level
Will you support and create family planning measures if elected?
Diaz to Zubiaga: What is your opinion on existing legislations affecting PWDs? How do you think can we improve on them? #CNNPHSenatorialForum#TheFilipinoVotes
Zubiaga: As of now, 'yung lahat ng batas na tungkol sa PWDs ay naka-focus more on charity. (1/2)
Zubiaga: Gusto natin na tingnan ang PWDs as contributing members of the society and capable of contributing to nation-building. (2/2)
Olarte: Ang unang public health na batas na gagawin ko is the establishment of research and development science center. (1/2)
Diaz: Alam niyo may batas na tayo tungkol diyan, the problem is the implementation.
Diaz on prohibiting political dynasties: Probably, we just have to focus on making it more stringent...yung pagpapatupad ng batas na ito
Diaz: Ang gusto ko sana, maging state sponsored ang campaign para we level the playing field...
Zubiaga: My priority legislation is the national rehabilitation act. To monitor children’s health and give interventions, and also to prepare them for the support services they need so they can grow up like any other children #CNNPHSenatorialForum#TheFilipinoVotes
Zubiaga also pushes for mental health facilities
Diaz on his priority legislation: I'm thinking of economic emancipation act, that would provide the ample support for the common Filipino with regards to opportunities to rise. (1/2) #CNNPHSenatorialForum#TheFilipinoVotes
Pangatlo, magtayo po tayo ng trees to improve the air cleanliness. Also, promote tourism and increase salaries of frontliners
