It’s not often I agree with Andrew Coyne the past couple of decades, but I do agree whole heartedly with this opinion piece.

Kinda reminds me of the Coyne I used to read in Macleans decades ago. In fact he was one of the reasons I purchased the magazine regularly back then.

Coyne can and does use logic and reason to refute and debunk utter bull 💩. He used to do it regularly.

I’m glad he’s applying that logic to PP.

His opinion article is perfect counter propaganda to the many right wing “news” media trying desperately to sell PP as a PM. 🙄

But PP is a demagogic populist. He has the depth of a puddle and the trustworthiness of a thief who steals candy from babies.

In other words, he’s a snake oil salesman’s snake oil salesman. His grift can be spotted long before the next election.

What Coyne misses though is PP’s ability to whip Trudeau hate into a tizzy over the next few years. PP is a threat to national security and political stability.

I think CPC realizes they can’t win an election fairly.

So what’s the next best option? Permanently remove the popular leader and his party from power using demagogic populist appeal to create hatred so putrid and repugnant, that removing PMJT is the only solution conservative voters consider viable.

That’s right, inspire and incite the conservative base to remove PMJT from competition; through whatever means available.

PP is being hyped as the next conservative leader so he has ample access to a platform to conduct stochastic terrorist rhetoric to inspire CPC voters.

A man as repulsively belligerent and repugnantly offensive to so many can not be expected to win a national election.

So he is NOT being promoted as the next CPC leader to win the next election. He’s being promoted to remove LPC from power, using whatever means available.

Show trials, an abundance of false accusations, subversive rhetoric in parliament, incitement to violence towards LPC and PMJT. Worse than what’s already been happening.

Remember Catherine McKenna quit politics because the violence threatened against her and her children.

Get ready for that level of violent verbal abuse and repeated death threats done publicly. I can see it building already in the #TrudeauMustGo hashtag on Twitter.

Posts contain increased violent rhetoric and veiled death threats along with accusations of treason.

Several demand PMJT be jailed for forcing people to wear masks and restricting their public movement because they refused to get vaccinated. It’s literally profoundly absurd when these accusations against PMJT are compared to the tyranny Russia is imposing on Ukrainians.

Many refer to PMJT’s behaviour as fascist, even labelling it Nazism. That is the link to Putin’s crimes against humanity. Justification for murder and targeting civilians by branding them Nazis.

PP is doing the same here in Canada to LPC, PMJT and all supportive liberal voters.

That should scare the crap out of the general public.

PP is leaning so heavily on populist rhetoric about “freedom” and “liberty” to characterize LPC and PMJT as the exact opposite: totalitarian tyranny.

It’s irrelevant what party you support. PP is creating a divide between those who believe PMJT is an evil tyrant like Putin and those who recognize CPC is using the same strategy to build support for the violent removal of the duly elected federal government.

That is the “Us” & “Them” divide he’s creating with his rhetoric.

There is already unreasonable hatred for PMJT. Developed over the past 6 years. Disinformation links liberalism with Satan, evil & communism regularly.

PP is throwing lit matches at dry, gas soaked tinder.

He’s not planning on becoming PM through an election. He’s orchestrating the necessary conditions for a violent overthrow of the federal government.

The convoy was overall peaceful, if not highly annoying. Only a few were violent thugs. They’ve been arrested & charges laid.

People who supported that convoy were manipulated into supporting an attempted coup.

This time, the master at belligerence and intolerance will whip their hatred into a fury that views it’s only path to “freedom” is a violent overthrow of the LPC and the accommodating NDP.

Who at that point would be left to govern the nation? Only CPC and PPC. Who would duke it out for control and power distribution.

PP is a very dangerous man. The CPC has stepped up its game plan. They intend to gain power using whatever means available.

Coyne entirely misses this point. You’d have to ask him if that was intentional.

But his opinion is that the public shouldn’t worry so much about PP gaining power of PM through a federal election.

I concur.

But they should be greatly concerned that the type of rhetoric PP uses is well known and documented to incite hate, create overwhelming animus and is used by dictators worldwide to prepare for a coup.

We should be very worried indeed. @acoyne
