And so you get these wannabe-influencers packaging and selling this “wisdom” to those people. Right before the MLM pitch.
You know who doesn’t spend their limited time with their friends talking investments and side hussles? Successful people who spend the rest of their life working and just want a break from it to talk with their friends about non-mentally-taxing shit.
“If Disney were planning any expansion of DisneyWorld or any new initiatives in Florida, they’d be fools to go ahead with them now instead of shopping around to bluer states.”
LOL okay. Yes blue states, famous friendly bastions for cheap land and labor.
I know a bunch of people started paying attention about ten minutes ago and now know everything, but Disney has been in a multi-decade fight with unions because unions accuse Disney of mistreating and underpaying employees. And blue states have seen union moves against Disney.
Also I love the idea that Disney is going to forget it has massive infrastructure and land twice the size of Manhattan, to start over with nothing in a blue state, cuz big meanie Ron.
What DeSantis has figured out that some GOP govs have yet to figure out is that bad faith actors in the media and activist spheres will never stop lying and attacking you no matter how much you bend to their will. You’ll never win them over.
So stop bending in the first place.
That doesn’t mean be a liar yourself. It means tell the truth and stand by your principles and avoid getting tangled down in invented outrages that no one outside of the media cares about. Know when an issue is just fringe activist rabble and when it’s a legitimate issue.
Like the multi-year daily media outage that Florida was working on reopening and not just relying on vaccines. Ignore it and do what’s right. And then suddenly it’s the accepted thing when it turns out to work.
To prevent a conservative Latino lawyer from getting anywhere near the high court, the left smeared and filibustered Miguel Estrada -- a legal scholar admired even by Elena Kagan, who has said he's more than qualified for the job.
Kagan later described Estrada as "a towering intellect" and "fundamentally decent person" who has been a great friend to her, despite their differences, for decades. She assessed that he would be "absolutely superlative" on the US Supreme Court.
Leaked internal memos showed that senior Democrats openly talked about having to sink his nomination because he could be a future SCOTUS nominee and his Latino and immigrant roots would make him difficult to oppose.
Imagine applying that logic to any other area of national defense. “We’re here to provide tools and expertise to help the public deal with terrorist attacks, but it’s ultimately your responsibility”
“We’re ready to provide tools and expertise to help businesses deal with foreign powers bombing their factories, but it’s ultimately their responsibility to guard against.”
Democrats were indisputably the party of weakness on Russia for years. They mocked Republican nominees who suggested Russia remained a major threat. They lifted sanctions. They "reset" relations. They ran on Russia being cooperative.
Along came Trump who was himself verbally weak on Russia. Russia sought to interfere in the 2016 election. Democrats looked for a Nefarious Reason that they lost and settled on Russia.
Only then did the Democratic talking points on Russia shift. Only when it cost Democrats
politically did they acknowledge Russia as a threat.
Not as Russia was invading and stealing US allies.
