What an incredible day yesterday. It was impossible to articulate in the press conference exactly what it was that makes this team so special.

So let's try again, totally sleep deprived but still riding high. Let’s talk about the “it” factor we saw this weekend. ⬇️

Player leaders, in game and out, are critical to a high performing League team. We had an organic shared leadership structure between Impact, Inspired and Vulcan all leading in their own way.

Impact is an amazing role model. He is so intentional with how he approaches practice and how he takes care of his body and mind. He is a massive cultural leader. He’s one of the smartest players I’ve coached and an amazing teacher, stern yet kind. We’re lucky to have him.

This was the first time Inspired took on a leadership role and he absolutely crushed it. He demands a LOT from Jojo in practice and constantly pushes him to be better and is a huge driving force behind our improvement. He is meticulous with his individual pre game routine, too.

Vulcan holds himself to incredibly high standards and that attitude rubs off. I’m so proud of how well he led this team this weekend. Pay attention to his body language on stage, always finding Danny and Jojo, leading our player huddles, everything. So proud of him.

The three of them create a perfect environment for Danny and Jojo to just be themselves. They have the freedom to fail because they trust their teammates COMPLETELY and know they have their backs no matter what. I can’t wait for what's next for them both.

Here are some of the major themes that we really leaned into this weekend:

Individual Accountability: Do your job. 1 goal, 5 jobs. Trust your teammates to do theirs. Everyone has a job to do and they trust that if they do it well then they will win.

The Test: I said this so many times that they got sick of hearing it: We’re going to be tested today. I’ve never played a best of five where we weren’t. I don’t know exactly what that test will look like yet but I GUARANTEE that we’re ready for it when it comes.

Trust: I told them before each series, I trust you guys COMPLETELY. Not a doubt in my mind that the 5 best people for the job are right here in this room right now.

This week we had a singular purpose – come together as a team. We chose to only play 2 scrim games this week against a Collegiate team. Instead, our focus was rest, recovery, maintenance, and fun. On Friday we weren’t scouting TL, we were watching film of what we do well.

Peaking at the right time is absolutely no accident. We have a systematic, intentional approach – the EG secret sauce. We set out to do things differently than anyone else and I’m so proud of everyone on this team and at this company.

It’s not a novel idea to surround young talent with high performing veterans – the devil is in the details. We had 5 technical coaches, 4 performance specialists and 3 data analysts/scouts supporting our guys. It takes the right people, the right systems, and agile management
