Important to note the incident is having an effect on 4G cells too. Hard to assess the extent at this point, but it’s happening way beyond Paris.

Background 1/3: FRA infra has been improving resilience through diversification of its points of presence (pop), increased capacity of its interconnections, and high number of international points of entry.
2/3 France ranks 5th in Europe for the number of IXPs , representing 3.88% to 4.08% of worldwide numbers (own calculations from doi.org/10/f8bkst).
3/3 IXPs are concentrated in Paris and Marseille and often mutualised into France-IX, a (non-profit) domestic market leader. It relies on PoP operated by Equinix (USA), Interxion (Netherlands) and Iliad (France). Interconnection capacity of 4 main ISPs went x7 b/w 2012 and 2018.
French domestic intelligence DGSI is investigating the incident under provisions protecting national critical infrastructures.
