First up in our PG Symposium today is Carlotta Smalen, whose work explores links between gender and climate adaptations. Carlotta is a 1st Year student but she's setting a high bar for our next speakers - will they be able meet this exacting standard?? 🤨

Carlotta fielding questions on statistical data, extreme weather events, race and research positionality, and layering big topics in PhD project management - we're off to a great start here, fair play to Carlotta and her wonderful supervisor @susanpmurphy 👏👏👏

@susanpmurphy And next up is fellow 1st Year PhD student, Juliet Rounce - supervised by @im_coasts, Juliet's work looks at carbon storage in restored and natural saltmarshes, and she's following Carlotta's lead with a very clear overview of her project and its importance!

@susanpmurphy @im_coasts Following Juliet's excellent presentation, we're now on to Mary Rose Byrne, also in 1st Year, who's supervised by @PadraigCarmody. Mary Rose's work looks at the relationship between social upgrading and the concept of resilience in the Vietnamese garment industry.
