I hate to interrupt the piss-taking, but...it should be noted that the Christian Nationalists who have a moral panic over the "Sexual Health" aisle of the Target are literally the same ones who want *Griswold v Connecticut* to go away (along with *Roe v Wade*)
(Yes, literally. A lot of them actually have basic issues with the entire idea of contraception, hormonal or otherwise. Some groups, like Quiverfull types, even argue women should not be allowed in any way to determine their reproductive destiny.)
2/x
And many of us #exvangelicals have tried to warn, for *decades* now, that if Roe goes they'll be going after *Griswold* next (which, among other things, actually paves the way FOR Target to even *have* sales of prophylactics in the Sexual Health aisle).
3/x
And FWIW: There are actually still a number of states in the US (particularly in the Southeast US) where it is *still* illegal to purchase marital aids except for "medical reasons". Multiple states actually outlawed the sale of prophylactics before *Griswold*,
4/x
and other states banned the advertisement of contraception (pretty much they legally *had* to keep the condoms behind the counter, and you had to specifically ask for them), or banned sales to certain groups.
Christian Nationalist groups have actually attacked hormonal birth control since it came out (falsely accusing it of causing abortions, claiming it turned girls into "sluts", etc.). Same groups started their antivax trend hardcore with HPV shot and hep-B shots
6/x
both of which were condemned for essentially giving a "sexual license", and actual disinfo promoted re HPV shots in particular which would be an early glimpse of the same kinds of disinfo we see now regarding covid shots by Christian Nationalist groups
7/x
But--and this is less well known, save for people who were #exvangelicals raised in groups deep in the anti-reproductive-healthcare movement...the same groups that would claim that "the pill" caused abortions also claimed spermicides caused abortions
8/x
(Nonoxynol-9 containing spermicides were especially targeted, and this is probably not coincidence as this particular spermicide was thought to have some anti-HIV activity in the days before PrEP was a Thing.)
9/x
These were literally, to a one, the same Christian Nationalist groups that were pushing for everything but abstinence-only education to be struck (as "potentially giving kids ideas and encouraging sex"), the same ones that are basically writing the "don't say gay" bills
10/x
So yes, it's lulzy seeing someone have a meltdown over the fact that "oh noes Target sells marital aids and prophylactics", but make no mistake, this is the kind of typical Moral Panic that Christian Nationalists use to get the camel's nose in the tend to erase *Griswold*
11/end
As an aside:
If people are curious about the history of chastity laws banning sale of contraceptives: jurist.org/archives/featu… (Actually banned federally from 1873 until 1918, banned for ship by mail until 1936, 30 states banned or restricted sales until *Griswold*)

@RightWingWatch This is something that a lot of people don't realize about Christian Nationalists: They hate non-Christian-Nationalist mainline Christianity most of all, and have worked for something close to a century to try to hijack it from within (usually via lay ministry groups).
1/x
@RightWingWatch As early as the 30s, there was an ongoing effort to use an MLM-esque structure (based in the "discipling and shepherding" movement) to infiltrate churches from within: dailykos.com/stories/2007/8…
2/x
@RightWingWatch Typically in groups outside of traditional New Apostolic Reformation and other Christian Nationalist churches, the methods of infiltration have tended to be things like "Christian business associations", "Christian investing", "Christian homeschooling", other lay groups

@TMikaMouse Oh, the ways this is actually *illegal*:
a) Companies actually *legally cannot* require notice. All 50 states (NE was the final holdout) are "at will", meaning both employers *and employees* can terminate the relationship for any (legal) reason or no reason at all
1/x
@TMikaMouse (in fact, most exemptions to at-will employment actually apply to *employers* and in many states this includes trying to rewrite contracts retroactively.)
So an employee can quit tomorrow, and not give a reason or just say "better work conditions", and employer is SOL
2/x
@TMikaMouse b) The threat to dock pay by $6 due to resigning is wage theft and is illegal AF (how I know this: former employer of mine threatened similar withholding or docking of salary, and was immediately called on it by an employee who threatened to take it to state labor board)

This is one of those rare cases where there's stuff related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine (and American fifth columns helping it) that's actually deeply IN my wheelhouse, so @BrianKarem here's some more info for you.
So, Hanick is somewhat familiar, in that he was one of the people responsible for Fox News becoming a thing, and used to be a producer for Hannity's show. And then he left, to join up...with one Konstantin Malofeev
What he did with Malofeev was start essentially a Russian Orthodox-nationalist version of Christian Nationalist "news with views" networks (a bit less Fox, quite a bit more in the vein of OANN or even American Family Radio)
Aaaaaaand HERE's the connection with Christian Nationalist shit (there's a reason I keep harpin' Sinema's a Fifth Columnist, and I'm about to go into the deets why--tl;dr at least one MLM is run by Christian Nationalists, and there's a lot of affinity fraud in MLMs)
So it turns out that Sinema's been getting money from a PAC associated with Alticor, which is one of the d/b/a's used by AmWay....the largest MLM worldwide, and one I've personally written about re its Christian Nationalist linkages
So for those who didn't read article, or read my post: AmWay has an extremely long history (from its founding) of entanglement with Christian Nationalism, and particularly New Apostolic Reformation style Christian Nationalism. Three of its four major downlines,

So, a brief history of time...or at least daylight savings time...for those who may wonder "why do we even do DST, and why don't we just go to standard time"
(assuming you're not in non-tribal lands in AZ or Hawaii, that is)
So the US did not actually (as a whole) do DST on a national basis until 1918, and contrary to the old yarn that it was meant to help farmers...the first DST law was a wartime measure to conserve coal (and only lasted for two years).
And as it was, farmers actually *DESPISED* DST (because it threw their schedules off, and those of their livestock), so despite what Woodrow Wilson wanted, it went away and stayed away until World War II.
When WWII came around, we ended up with year-round DST;

#Exvangelicals who escaped Christian Nationalism and folks who monitor the far-right have been sounding the alarm for *years*, and were at 50-bell alarms from *September 2020 onwards*.
#IAmNotOverJan6 and will not be until justice is served re the coup attempt (which is ongoing)
Many people in the US do not realize we came *very* close to a successful Christian Nationalist coup, of the sort Jorge Serrano Elias (protege of genocidist Efrain Rios Montt) attempted in 1993 in Guatemala
I bring up Guatemala, of note, because Efrain Rios Montt's genocide--and the Bucharest Progrom by the Romanian Iron Guard--*ARE* the exact model that Christian Nationalists planned for their attempted coup had they murdered Congress
