The thing about dogs is that once you've earned their loyalty and affection, you had it for life.

Regardless if you were cruel and gave the dog nothing but violence, the dog, while still shivering in fear of you, would still approach in hopes you would continue to give them love.

Jiang Cheng had three puppies given to him.

Little Love, Princess, and Jasmine.

He loved these dogs so much. (And he would continue to love those three dogs until the day he uttered his last breath)

Each of the sisters had their own unique personalities and traits.

Princess was snooty, shy, and hated to get dirty. However, when she did get dirty, it was because she was the best when it came to scouting, hunting, and tracking.

(She always caught the most prey to give to their human, much to her smugness and her two sisters irritation.)

She also disliked winter and loved to jab her cold wet nose into her human's warm belly to cause him to squeal in delight.

(The three sisters often had competitions to see which one of them could make their frowny human smile the most.)

When she was given away, she vowed to return to her tiny human who loved her so much. Whose qi and golden core had connected so deeply into her own soul that she felt his pain, anguish, hurt, betrayal, and loss as she was dragged away.

(She never forgot the sound of her humans howls)

She is given to a little girl who lives in a tiny hut next to a rushing river. The little girl is sweet and kind, always showering Princess with love... but...

She was not her human.

Her human had delicate features and a frown with a barking temperament that he used as a shield to hide his hurt from the world.

Her human smelled like the flowers that floated on the river, the sweet candied food on the stick, and simultaneously happiness mixed with sadness.

Her human snored in his sleep and curled himself in a ball, because even when asleep he felt fear and kept a wall up.

When she hears from a passing bird that her home had been burned, she flees despite the little girls cries to come back.

She is shot and killed by a Wen arrow, before she even steps foot into her human's home.

Jasmine was the eldest of the three sisters, with Princess as the middle, and Little Love as the youngest.

Jasmine was quiet and soft, always ensuring her sisters and frowny human

were safe and sound. She was the one who licked the salty wetness from her human's face when he was sad, due to when the bigger humans in purple would yell at him.

(many times he had to tell her not to bite them)

Eventually, she did bite the human with the strange head piece, as she and her sisters were dragged away from their human, who was sobbing heartbrokenly into the smaller human girl's arms.

MY HUMAN! MY HUMAN!

She remembers snarling as she bit and clawed deeply into the ground, refusing to go away.

She had been knocked out, and when she woke up, she was in an inn with elder humans who were clearly mates cooing after her.

She was polite to the elder humans but kept her distance. Only being of use to scare thieves and unruly customers away.

A harsh winter comes, and with a look of sadness on the elder human's faces, she is killed and turned into stew.

Little Love is the youngest of three sisters, and she is the runt of the litter.

It does not stop her from being brave and fearless, as she drags her human out on adventures and to swim in the cool lakes to find sunken treasures.

Little Love is loud, mischievous, and the one who tries to make their human's day a little brighter. To take his mind away from the sad things that occupy his mind.

Little Love was the one who was the most heartbroken out of them all. Her name WAS Little Love, and when she

loved, she did it with her entire being.

She felt a bit of her will to live leave her the day she was dragged and taken away from her human. She vowed much like her sisters to return.

Little Love ends up in a place where various sickly sweet perfumes burn her nose, and the

humans dressed in odd soft silks keep odd hours. These humans sleep during the day and stay awake at night.

She doesn't understand why these humans seemed to have different mates every single night.

Sometimes the other mates get mean, and that is when she steps in.

One day she hears from a passing horse that her human and others are going to Cloud Recesses in Gusu to learn.

She runs away that night.

She dies when something strange in Caiyi pulls her in the water and drowns her.

She's the cat that died clawing at a Wen soldier so her human could escape with the innocent humans he was trying to protect.

She's the rat who ate at the ropes that tied down the grain so her human wouldn't starve.

She's the frog who croaks in alarm to announce the ambush her

human was going to set off.

She's the chicken who willingly gets caught to feed him.

She is there where her human needs her to be in various shapes and forms.

Then one day she is born, and when she is, strange human-like cries leave her lips as she is cradled in her human's arms who is crying happily.

Much like she did when she was a puppy, she bumped her nose against his cheek.

When Jasmine opens her eyes, she realizes she has been

reborn again, and she remembers. She remembers her sisters and her human whom she promised she would return too.

And she does.

She's the bird that carried his war messages.

The fly that brought maggots to the enemies food.

The snake that willingly was caught so it's poison could be put to good use.

She is there where her human needs her to be in various shapes and forms.

Then one day she is born, and when she is, strange human-like cries leave her lips as she is cradled in her human's arms who is crying happily. She can even recognize her sister being cradled in another human's arms.

Her human is crying, so she does what she had always done, and

used her hand to wipe his tears away. (well she tried to at least.)

When Little Love opens her eyes, she realizes she has been reborn again, and she remembers. She remembers her sisters and her human whom she promised she would return too.

And she does.

She's the horse that carries her human when he can no longer fly.

She's the firefly captured and used as candlelight.

She's the fox willingly caught, so her fur can be used for her human during winter time.

She is there where her human needs her to be in various shapes and

forms.

Then one day she is born, and when she is, strange human-like cries leave her lips as she is cradled in her human's arms who is crying happily. She can even recognize her two sisters being cradled in the arms of other humans.

Her human is crying, so she does what she had always done. She wiggles herself playfully until she hears that familiar light laugh.

Because you see, here is the thing about dogs.

Once you've earned their loyalty and affection, you had it for life.

Despite the tears and separation, and perhaps a death or two.

A dogs love, is a dogs love.

Pure and simple.
