For those who are making fun of Kerala visiting Gujarat to study its e-governance dashboard, here is a fact check because I was one of the first to report it. Thread:
Gujarat E-Governance model was implemented during Keshubhai Patel's tenure as CM. Not Modi's. Though KP had little knowledge of technology, he was a master listener and doer. If it is good for our people, let's implement it was his motto.
During that time the entire space of e-governance stories went to the then Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu who became the CEO of a state with his vision of technology. But Andhra has connectivity till District level. It stole the limelight because Naidu was good at it.
Gujarat then had connectivity till Taluka level. This means if you need to make a ration card somewhere remote in a village, you could do it online through a registered vendor, mostly photo copier shops in these regions.
One such district which adapted this model was Godhra where Jayanti S Ravi (Later Health Commissioner) was the Collector. With a lot of tribal population nearby, the district showed how e-governance can work down the lowest hanging fruit.
But when Keshubhai was replaced by Modi, he was the first to highlight this e-governance model as his own in one of the events held at Tagore Hall, Paldi where I was also present. It was lauded as an effort by a visionary CM. Only that this visionary CM was someone else.
So #keralamodel#Kerala just go ahead and learn the E-governance model from Gujarat as it is the first and the most mature you can learn from. Just because everything is credited to Modi doesnt mean you keep away from good models anywhere in the country.
