Prevent is a surveillance tool designed to treat the whole population as potentially dangerous for the ruling elites. And as with many aspects of domestic policing in the USA/UK, there is an link with Israeli attempts to create a Closed Society #EndPrevent

Not sure what is happening with the news editors at Channel 4 News. They have fallen for the securocrats attempts to build a USA style Prison Industrial Complex.
As we have seen with the almost annual enactment of new terrorism laws, exceptionalising anything done by a Muslim is an opportunity for securocrats and loony neoconservative ideologues to tickle fears and prejudices, manufacture consent from the majority, and grab more powers.
The standard concern with all prisons is how to avoid re-offending. But when there is recidivism by a Muslim of course, it's an opportunity to again exceptionalise the debate, find a mediocre careerist to do an "Independent Report" and demand more money and powers.

Today the French Supreme Court ruled against the closure of a local mosque near Bordeaux!

Here is a quick recap of this case.
As a result of the state-led Islamophobic persecution currently underway in France, the French administration decided to close down the mosque in March - a few weeks before the start of Ramadan. Why?
The Ministry of the Interior argued the mosque was encouraging acts of Terror because its imam voiced its support for Palestine on social media! or “because of its imam’s peaceful pro-Palestine activism on social media”.

CAGE has been consistently campaigning against PREVENT before it became mainstream. The early efforts of CAGE and a few grassroots organisations/activists successfully turned the tide on PREVENT.

CAGE publishes its report “Good Muslim Bad Muslim: A response to the revised PREVENT strategy”, warning against the government’s efforts to impose acceptable religious practice and belief to the Muslim community.

In a press conference CAGE launched: “The PREVENT strategy: A cradle to grave police-state”.

It is the first report to detail the all encompassing and insidious nature of Prevent policy. In this report, CAGE warns Prevent would become law.

The report in question, ‘Delegitimising Counter-Terrorism’, is an academically poor & desperate attempt to defend the Islamophobic PREVENT strategy.

It fails to contend with the substantive arguments presented by CAGE and others against PREVENT.
