2/ Pls go watch this child’s entire address in the thread above, & see how terribly she was treated. Here, we’ll revisit a key line:
“I’m here today to urge you to specifically redefine goals for equity and non discrimination in the 2023 political agenda.”

This. Really. Matters.

3/ And in case you think Board Pres Mozdzen was having a quiet night, just a few racist minutes before that student spoke she was all smiles & giggles basking in the glory of all the CUSD awards/scholarships/sunshine/rainbows they were all-too-happy to display earlier that mtg.

4/ Here she is rambling on and on and on about all the happy happy brag happy proud happy rainbows proud before turning it over to Terry Locke to read the rules re: public comments, and when/how the board may respond to them.

5/ Let take another listen, shall we?
“During public comments, members of the governing board may not discuss items that are not specifically identified on the agenda.”

6/ So what was on the agenda last night?

“Issues for Consideration for the 2023 Political Agenda”

7/ And what did that student come to speak about again, with regards to the horrific ongoing treatment of marginalized students in Chandler schools that she described in painstaking detail?

8/ So… Board Pres Mozdzen actually had the following (3) options available to her:
1. Directing staff to review the matter
2. Responding to criticism (it was hardly complimentary of admin, no?)
3. Scheduling the matter for further consideration & decision at a later date.

9/ And how did she respond? What was this child met with after baring her soul like that, and describing behavior that should have left EVERY PERSON IN THAT ROOM struggling to compose themselves???

10/ When I tell you these people should not be allowed to pick a school’s wall paint color, please know that I constantly wonder from the very bottom of my soul why these soulless fucking monsters are allowed to RUN OUR ENTIRE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

11/ When that child detailed all the times and ways these incidents have been reported, but that nothing is ever done about it, did you believe her?

I hope you did. I sure as shit did.

LOOK AT WHAT SCHOOL LEADERSHIP DID WHEN SHE REPORTED IT TO THEM LIVE ON THE INTERNET.

12/ And when Board Member @Luv2Disrupt tried her best to acknowledge that child, and point out that she had spoken to an agenda item and therefore this did warrant both recognition and action, how was SHE treated??? She was gaslighted and treated like she had 2 goddamn heads.

13/ Superintendent @FrankNarducci finally spoke up and it was… enraging. He put that child on the spot in the least-compassionate, least-professional manner imaginable, aggressively firing questions at her about why she was there, just to try and prove Board Member Love wrong.

14/ My question for you #Chandler is this: When is enough actually going to be enough? And I do mean ENOUGH???

B/c every now and then something particularly awful happens, and people show up to yell at them and challenge them, but then y’all just seemingly… disappear.

15/ So at this point, is it any wonder these people NEVER get any better??? Why would they? Why should they? All they have to do is ride out the storm knowing it’ll pass and they can return to their status quo of ineptitude and incompetence.

They learned this from us.

16/ We have allowed this cancer to grow. We can accept that and aggressively and consistently work to fix what we have allowed to break, or we can look the other way while children continue to show up BEGGING for us to do better while their peers have SLURS & FOOD THROWN AT THEM.

17/ We have a critical race for 2 governing board seats right now, Chandler. Now is not the time to vote for people we simply know or have name-recognition from being around places. Y’all know Kurt Rohrs and his name, right? Ya gonna vote for him? No, right? Mmmmay then.

18/ (Psst! When you get their go-to “open meeting law” excuse, feel free to ask them what corrective measures they’ve taken to both acknowledge their violations of OML in their meeting minutes, as well as to prevent future violations. 😉)
