In March, our SU's Liberation Officer, our "representative on all matters relating to equality", endorsed Shaima Dallali for @nusuk President.

Here's why that's a problem 🧵

Shaima is under investigation for antisemitism, having written an article praising Yusuf al-Qaradawi (who supported the killing of LGBTQ+ people and Jews) as a "moral compass to the Muslim community", among other potentially antisemitic actions and statements.

It's alarming that @LeicesterUnion's "representative on all matters relating to equality, diversity, and liberation" is endorsing them, and though it's possible they didn't know about Dallali's problematic actions when they endorsed her, they now know and have said nothing.

@LeicesterUnion and @leicsliberation have known about this issue for over a month and there's been no apology, public statement, or any tangible action whatsoever on this issue.

That's why we call on @leicsliberation to withdraw their endorsement and publicly apologise.

It's come to our attention that @LeicsPresident has also endorsed Shaima Dallali. We missed this as the endorsement wasn't published alongside others on Instagram.

We call for her too to withdraw her endorsement and publicly address this egregious error.
