1. Years before the CVA lawsuit was filed, Jane Doe tried warning Rabbi Wallerstein about the abuse she experienced at the hands of Chevi Garfinkel. At the time, Garfinkel was employed @OhrNaavaEvents . Wallerstein never took action regarding the matter, despite saying he would.
2. In 2016 Rabbi Wallerstein told survivors of sex abuse they need to, “get over it” and move on. Activists and survivors at the time condemned it, including Sima Yarmush and @mannywaks . Despite his apologizing, he continued to gaslight survivors for years.
3. In 2018 The Ranch at Bethel was opened in Sullivan County, NY. His program promised to help teen girls who struggled with depression, BPD, bipolar, EDs and other mental illnesses to receive appropriate treatment while remaining in a frum environment.
However, after speaking with multiple women who went through the program, it was anything but rehabilitative. The center was not run by qualified personnel and the girls often had to fend for themselves. When they tried talking to Wallerstein about it, he threatened them.
This was a routine tactic by Wallerstein; threaten people so they shut up. That’s not a good leader to me. Good leaders want to learn and grow from their mistakes. Wallerstein was anything but.
