The chariot construction work for Puri Ratha Yatra commences today at ‘Ratha Khala’ on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. 😍🙏🏼↓
On the auspicious day of Akshaya Trutiya, the ‘Agyanaa Mala’ (consent garland of Mahaprabhu) is received

and Ratha Katha Anukula ritual is performed.
This starts the process of chariot construction for Prabhu Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra & Mahaprabhu Jagannatha at the Bada Danda of Shree Jagannatha Temple, Puri.

Three 12-feet-long Dhaura logs are brought to the Ratha Khala. The process begins with an axe being given the divine touch after getting the ‘Agyanaa Mala’ from the deities followed by special rituals conducted by temple priests.

Altogether 198 persons, including carpenters, Bhoi servitors and artists have been engaged in the making of the chariots. As per tradition, the carpenters use 742 pieces of wooden logs of different species for the construction of Jagannath’s chariot,

731 logs for Balabhdra’s chariot and 711 logs for Subhadra’s.

Parakira Pandian who ruled over Tenkasi wished to worship the lord at Kasi. The family deity of the king namely lord Muruga offered the king a rare medicinal tablet and made him worship Kasi Viswanathar by travelling through the sky.

The king became worried as he could not go to Kasi every day to worship Viswanathar. The lord appeared in his dream and told him that he was there at a small distance. A colony of ants moving in procession would show him the way.

Arunachalesvara Temple or Annamaliyar Temple, Thiruvannamalai.
The structure of this temple dates back to the 9th century according to the inscriptions found in the premises & was built by the Chola kings.

Expansions and renovations were later executed by the Vijayanagara rulers, and then subsequently by the Saluva Dynasty and the Tuluva Dynasty.
Some inscriptions also indicate Thiruvannamalai was ruled by the Pallavas before the 9th century.
The ancient Tamil saints Appar and Sambandar are also believed to have worshipped Annamalaiyar in the temple.

The sculptor has shown the leaves, branches, and flowers of the Parijata tree very elegantly. Looking closely enough, you can see a bird, eating a fruit on a tree as well. Under the tree trunk,

This sculptural scene depicts Lakshmi-Narayana, a form of Sri Vishnu with his consort Maa Lakshmi on his lap, riding his Vahana, Garuda. It is carved on a pillar near the south side entrance of the Belur Chennakeshava Temple in Karnataka. 😍🙏🏼↓
Lakshminarayana is a combination of two names, Lakshmi and Narayana. Narayana is another name of Vishnu, and it means one who dwells on the water. In Sanskrit, Nara means water and Ayana means dwelling. According to Hindu history, Vishnu lives on the cosmic ocean.↓
As we can see from the image, Both are wearing elegant dresses and beautiful jewelry on their bodies. A small male figure with the wings below them is Garuda. Carved on the base of this sculpture is the Kirthimukha monster, sometimes known as a Kaala (Time Monster).↓
