"In the last 20 years, we’ve experienced an increase in cyclones in Fiji, which is one of the most threatened locations of the pacific region."
"The regularity & severity of cyclones has increased & the gov't & communities struggle to keep up, particularly in terms of enough suitable housing."
Latianara also talked about the construction training offered to empower communities, particularly women.

"We’re trying to make it more accessible for girls & women to get involved with the construction industry in Fiji"
"Of course, there are still cultural & gender hurdles but it’s changing slowly. As with many things, often it takes one person to step forward, then others will follow."
"The idea is that the training will help enable community members to become the decision-makers, the leaders of tomorrow."
