In Odisha the construction work of the rathas for Sri Jagannath’s annual rath yatra also starts on Akshay Tritiya.
Today is an important day for the Jains too. Today on Akshay Tritiya the first Jain Tirthankara, Lord Aadinath/Rishabhdev, broke his 400 days of fasting, after drinking sugarcane juice offered to him by his devotee.

There are sometimes comments on my tweets that ask me to write Sanatan Dharma instead of Hinduism.
Why though? The term Hindu is ancient. The word was found in 2 inscriptions dating back to 518 & 515 BCE, from the period of Darius (522-486 BCE).
Darius was one of powerful Achaemonian emperors of Persia. The inscriptions referred to the Hi(n)dush as part of his dominion, referring to territories lying east of of the Sindhu river, which he had conquered.

In WB, tomorrow is our Poila Boisakh as per Hindu Bengali calendar. This “pohela boisakh” is a term coined by the Bangladeshis. Wish people would notice & understand these subtle changes by the Islamists. Bangladesh is celebrating today by islamising the Hindu Bengali calendar
The term pohela taken from Hindi pahela is being used very cleverly as urducised form of poila (first).
Please understand these subtle differences which are being quietly forced on us Hindus. Do not allow these things to creep in & destroy our Hindu religious & cultural terms
Refugees from BD whose families once came to India and don’t like this Bongabdo calendar of Bengali Hs, can perhaps take an easy route out. Go back to Bangladesh and stay there. Follow their calendar format. We have no objections.
This is what happens when people don’t study their history.
Sindoor is the colour of fertility (menstrual blood), & signifies the readiness of a woman to procreate & give birth. A man does not have these biological characteristics; hence sindoor on him is meaningless & stupid!
Red colour was symbolic of femininity in all ancient cultures. Since Hinduism is the only ancient religion/culture that is still surviving, this sindoor wearing tradition is also continuing. Sindoor has been seen in the hair parting of women figurines in Harappa.

The university provided free lodging, food, clothing, and education to its residents, and as per Hiuen Tsang, the number of priests, students and guests present in the university were always around 10,000.
An 8th century stone inscription also gives a similar description of the beauty of the viharavalis of the university. The grounds of the university were equally beautiful with a series of deep translucent ponds that held blue lotus mixed with the deep red of the kanaka flowers…
In 1989 an inscription plate (Laguna Copperplate) was found, which was deciphered in 1991, and it linked Philippines with Hinduism and Indic cultural influences from ancient to early medieval times. 1/5 @LostTemple7
2/5 The Laguna Copperplate Inscription is an official document, more precisely an acquittance, inscribed in the Shaka year 822 (900 CE). It is the earliest known calendar-dated document found in the Philippine Islands.
3/5 The inscription was written in Old Malay using the Kawi script with Sanskrit and Old Javanese influences. The Kawi script is related to the Nagari or old-Devanagari script in India and is said to be Pallava script derived.
Understanding that the two words are one and the same -Hindutva & Hinduism.
In the word Hindutva, the term Tattva refers to principles. There are 24 such principles or tattva of the world of duality (atma-tattva), of which the pancha bhutas are also a part.
So when one condemns Hindutva, terming it as an aggressive form of Hinduism, that person really has no heads or tails of what he is speaking about. Hindutva simply means the religious & philosophical principles followed by the Hindus.

Hinduism is just the English counterpart of the term Hindutva.
The term Hindutva is also not new, but has been used many times by many scholars of the 19th century (Bengali and Hindi scholars alike). #Hindumisia
