It would be impossible to overstate the significance of this upcoming #CUSD election. We will either unlock the potential for amazing things to happen, or we will welcome in immeasurable harm.
There are things that just need to be said.
Y’all might not like what I’m about to say. You can think the honesty is rude. You can even be mad about it. But I pay VERY close/careful attention to what’s going on w/ #CUSD board/admin. So if you want to say I’m wrong, please make sure you have what you need to back that up.
Whether these are easy or hard for y’all to accept, they are all true & all need to be said.
re: #CUSD election & the potential for amazing things
Patti Serrano & Crystal Markowsky are both fantastic. They are undeniably the best candidates, & the ones we need on that board.
1/ Hey #Chandler let’s not let this slide, huh? And let’s also refuse to accept there was nothing they could do.
If they can’t figure out how to run a school district AND show compassion/empathy for children at the same time, they have no business occupying those chairs.
2/ Pls go watch this child’s entire address in the thread above, & see how terribly she was treated. Here, we’ll revisit a key line:
“I’m here today to urge you to specifically redefine goals for equity and non discrimination in the 2023 political agenda.”
This. Really. Matters.
3/ And in case you think Board Pres Mozdzen was having a quiet night, just a few racist minutes before that student spoke she was all smiles & giggles basking in the glory of all the CUSD awards/scholarships/sunshine/rainbows they were all-too-happy to display earlier that mtg.
1/🧵 Attention #Chandler. If you’re wondering what type of people are running our schools, please watch how Board President Barb Mozdzen and Superintendent @FrankNarducci responded to the following heart-wrenching address from a CUSD student at tonight’s meeting…
2/ 🧵 I’ve cut the clip to remove her name and school. People have been unbelievably shitty towards children who have spoken at these meetings. (Yes, I’m well aware that it’s still [all those things]. If you’re here to critique that keep moving.)
3/ 🧵 She begins by thanking the board and saying “Good evening. My name is ______ and I’m a sophomore at ______.” She then goes into an address that is beyond heart-breaking. I’m not sure what else to even say other than TW: bullying/harassment/violence/bigotry/everything ugly.
I highly recommend watching the CUSD candidate forum from last night, graciously hosted by @SecularAZ and facilitated by the always fabulous @JeanneCasteen.
The forum link would help there, huh? (Sorry I don’t do the book, Face anymore!)
