Lan Zhan’s carriage is intercepted as he is being delivered to his new husband. The masked bandit who steals his valuables even goes so far as to steal a kiss from Lan Zhan before disappearing into the night. Lan Zhan is affronted. That kiss was for his husband

He arrives at the burial mounds much later that planned and is told by a small angry woman that his presence is neither sought nor wanted. Lan Zhan being quite stubborn in nature merely sits down and meditates just outside of the arrays.

It takes 24 hours for his new husband to make himself known to him. He looks cross and pouty but very handsome. Lan Zhan bows and asks to be allowed entrance. After looking him up and down, his betrothed nods and stomps off. Lan Zhan follows as soon as the arrays are removed.

At first, Lan Zhan sees very little of his husband up close but he observes him from afar. He works as hard as his people and is usually the last to leave the fields. Lan Zhan’s heart warms the more he learns.

His husband asks for nothing but Lan Zhan provides anyway. Small gestures at first, cups of tea, parcels of food, mending old robes, then bolder offerings, a new hair ribbon, an original composition.

It takes time but Lan Zhan is patient. Eventually the Yiling Patriarch invites him into his world, then his heart and then his bed. It is after they share their first kiss, that Lan Zhan realises it is their second. Seems he did give his first kiss to his husband after all. ❤️

Wei Ying sheepishly admits to being the bandit six months into their marriage & begs Lan Zhan’s forgiveness. By that time Lan Zhan is pregnant and couldn’t care less. He tells Wei Ying it’s forgotten then orders him to bring him some fresh red apples (cravings) and rub his back.

While Wei Ying feeds Lan Zhan apple segments and rubs his aching back he whines that it isn’t enough to make up for his wrong doings. Lan Zhan smiles and rubs his rounding stomach. “You have giving me something more valuable than all the items you stole from me, my love.” ❤️
