We've DOUBLED cases in arond 3 weeks

We're now two weeks over 5%

Seeing steady growth here. Image
HOSPITALIZATIONS

Creeping back up slowly.
(also... keep in mind... this has become a very TRICKY dataset... LOW % of hospuitals now reporting + patients admitted WITH/DUE to COVID) Image
So... what's it all mean?

We're in the midst of another SPRING wave.

Last two ended in early May. Ideally we start to come down again soon.

Hard to say what it's doing to patient counts, but seems far from overwhelming right now Image
Bottom line

Yeah, you're likely seeing more people you know get sick.

It's following similar past patterns.

Not a big concern right now. But worth watching.

Mask mandates

Do they work?

I think they do. A little.

But a lot?

Well, let's take a look at 3 Colorado counties.
Douglas, Adams, Arapahoe.

Two adopted mask mandates in late Nov. One didn't.
So.. what's happened since then?

Let's look at hospitalizations.
Douglas County (in a much publicized move) elected not to go forward with mask mandates

Arapahoe/Adams

(like Denver)

elected to move forward with them (only dissolved last week)
So... how did everyone do?

W/Hospitalizations?

Well... Similar falls and rises (Douglas was a little lower over last 2 months)

In 2019, a semi going 85 mph and loaded with lumber collided with car after car after car on I-70.

The driver said he lost his brakes. You know all that.

At least ten others were injured.

The crash happened April 25, 2019, on I-70 near Colorado Mills.

Last month, @GovofCO got involved when he reduced a 110 year prison sentence to 10 years for the driver of the truck

The 110 year sentence for Rogel Aguilera-Mederos became the subject of a national outcry re: harsh sentences

Rogel, for his part, apologized at sentencing.
