If you ban abortion in cases like rape, ectopic pregnancy or rare egenetic disorders where the fetus has no chance at life, you'll give the abortion lobby munition and you're not only going to lose but you're going to end up with another "Roe v. Wade"
I know the response: "the fetus is human and you can't kill it. No difficulty justifies murder"
And I am telling you if you legislate that way, the political reality is normies will rebel, elect democrats, and you'll get another law or court decision like Roe. V. Wade...
I keep seeing this response...so let me repeat myself...and please read carefully:
IF YOU LEGISLATE OUTSIDE OF WHAT THE VOTERS WILL ALLOW, THEY WILL
-ELECT DEMOCRATS
-REPEAL YOUR LEGISLATION
-MAKE ANOTHER ROE V. WADE
....AND YOU WILL GET 50 MORE YEARS OF ABORTION ON DEMAND...
It is not a moral retreat to pass laws that you can pas without getting them repealed, while working to get support for the rest.
You live in a democratic republic, you can only keep the laws you have support for.
Pass the laws you have support for, then persuade on the rest...
I am probably more pro life than anyone on this site...as a moral matter I think abortion is only permissable to save the life of the mother.
But...as a political matter you can only pass laws that people support without facing backlash.
The only hope they have is backlash...
Do not give them backlash...
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
One last thing...
I am not claiming that pro-lifers of who I am one, are wrong in their convictions.
I am pro-life. My comments are about legislative and political strategy...not moral first principles.

2/ 1. Woke people try to "win" social battles by delegitimizing dissent.
2. Woke people don't believe in neutral principles of engagement.
Let me explain...
3/
Point one is that the woke try to "win" social battles by delegitimizing dissent.
Woke people don't try to win by showing they are correct. They try to win social battles by destroying the credibility of their opponents so their opponents are either dissmissed or ignored...
-Don't call it "woke" that's racist
-Don't call it "Critical Social Justice," that termnis made up
-Don't call it "Critical Race Theory," that's incorrect
They don't want their ideology to have a name. Let's talk about why.
2/ The people who say terms like "Critical Social justice," and "woke," are pejorative, made up, meaningless, or substitutes for the N-word, are playing a rhetorical and linguistic game in order to undercut and subvert your ability to criticize their ideas.
Here's how it works:
3/ I'm going to explain this using Zebras as an analogy.
Trust me, this will explain it perfectly.
Many animals have fur, feathers, skin or skin that matches the colour of their environment. This acts like camoflouge so they can blend in and hide.
1/ The reason the woke are panicking about @elonmusk owning twitter is because twitter is what the woke use to control the narrative.
This is where the woke engineer discourse and "discourse engineering" is how they manufacture narratives
So, discourse engineering
A thread 🧵/
2/ First we need to ask, what's "discourse?"
Discourse is the discussion that occurs around a topic or idea. It includes the words used, how the ideas are conveyed, and the ways various points of view gain traction in the conversation and become the "dominant" or "default" view
3/ When the woke examine "the discourse" they are looking at:
1. the words, signs and symbols used in discussion 2. The ways ideas are conveyed and communicated 3. How particular ideas are used in a given discourse 4. The fact that certain views come to dominate the conversation
1/ There's a difference between: 1. The legal doctrine of freedom of speech (IE: 1st amendment) and, 2. The liberal value of free speech
The 1st is a legal doctrine restricting government power to censor
The 2nd is a view about WHY the free exchange of ideas is necessary...
🧵
2/ The liberal vakue of free soeech recognizes that the search for truth requires that we be able to discuss and investigate all ideas. It is a ore-condition of truth seeking that we can discuss any idea in order to determine if that idea is any good.
This means allowing...
3/ the discussion and defense of ideas that we might view as evil, wrong, offensive, or sinful.
The liberal value of free speech means that it isn't only government censorship we are worried about. What we want is a vibrant marketplace of ideas where we can subject any and...
