In blockchains, this boils down to the core concepts of censorship resistance and self sovereignty

1️⃣ What is sovereignty?

Where power rests, that's who has sovereignty

Sovereignty stems from either:
• religious roots: God, gods, etc.
• political roots: king, queen, ruler etc.

A country is sovereign when it can make its own decisions without outside influence

2️⃣ Sovereignty in blockchain:

• Censorship resistance IS blockchain sovereignty

• Ethereum and Bitcoin are sovereign from nation states

• Individual addresses can be sovereign on those chains
(Self-sovereignty within a sovereign ecosystem = a dream within a dream)

3️⃣ DAOs enable Collective Sovereignty:

• DAOS extend this idea of individual sovereignty on a blockchain to a collective

• The key question for any DAO is WHAT does its core governance power control

4️⃣ Obstacles to achieving DAO sovereignty:

• On-chain voting is expensive when not using multi-sigs and/or Snapshot - sovereignty not with voters

• Real world custody: off-chain actors cannot be sovereign to on-chain governance systems (yet)

• Treasury: only on-chain proposals can move treasury

• Front-ends: only DAO that owns it front-ends, through @ensdomains and IPFS: again, only on-chain proposals through governance can change these.
