1/ Alright, everyone. I watched @DineshDSouza's new film #2000Mules (twice) and have put together a review of the movie. I cover what they got right, what they got wrong, and what they fail to prove. I think this is an important piece. Please share and RT. readtangle.com/2000-mules-fac…
2/ I want to first remind everyone that this is a *new* theory. The stolen election theories started with the granddaddy of them all -- Dominion Voting Systems. But they have changed, repeatedly, and now landed here. Back at election fraud. ImageImage
3/ From the very opening scene in this film, D'Souza is misleading viewers with a viral clip of Joe Biden that has been deceptively edited and taken out of context. I explain here: Image
4/ The movie then pivots into perhaps the most debunked election fraud claim yet. The idea that Biden overtaking Trump in the middle of the night was somehow unexpected or proof of fraud. I explain how we knew this was likely before the race even started: Image
5/ There are loads of other spurious claims that the movie introduces or recycles (like that Trump won bellwether counties or was outperformed by every Republican candidate, all of which is false) Image
6/ The central claim in #2000Mules, though, is the idea that a group of 2,000+ people (D'Souza estimates as many as 54,000) were conducting a massive ballot harvesting scheme to overthrow the election.

Simply put: D'Souza never comes close to proving this.
7/ The cell phone location data thesis is spurious for a number of reasons, which Gregg Phillips (featured in the movie) has actually admitted in testimony before the Pennsylvania state senate Image
8/ Here is Phillips conceding that without footage in Pennsylvania (which they don't have in the movie) they can't know for sure if innocent people are being caught up in their data dragnet Image
9/ One of the main characters in the film has *already been investigated* by Georgia state officials. They exonerated him, saying all five ballots D'Souza shows him depositing were for family members. readtangle.com/otherposts/200… Image
10/ D'Souza, Phillips and Engelbrecht also allege over and over again that they have videos of the same people appearing at different drop boxes in the same day and placing ballots in them. Yet they never show such footage in the film.

Not once! Image
11/ D'Souza actually responded to this criticism with this tweet:
12/ These two photos show one man depositing in a drop box on 2 different days -- which is not the central "mule" claim purported in the movie.

Even worse, it looks like the guy is an innocent caretaker/nurse of some kind, who can legally deposit ballots for ppl in his care. Image
13/ D'Souza and his team never once explain why in such a scheme Democrats would use dropboxes when they could use their own mail boxes or the Post Office, which would be much less public scenes! He also never explains how these ballots would not be caught. Image
14/ The film also frames ppl wearing gloves or taking selfies with ballots as somehow suspicious, despite the fact a) it's cold in Nov-Dec-Jan! and b) we were in the middle of a pandemic. 🤔 Image
15/ Most telling, though, is what @DineshDSouza *doesn't* tell the viewer.

He presents "True The Vote" as a non-partisan org despite the fact it is a Tea Party offshoot run by lifelong and vocal conservatives. #2000Mules Image
16/ He does not inform #2000Mules viewers that he

A) Actually presented this data to Georgia officials, who said it was not sufficient evidence even for an investigation! OR

B) Why they couldn't easily prosecute the ppl they have identified, if the crimes are real? Image
17/ Perhaps most telling of all, though, is the #2000Mules team won't even hand over the incriminating information they say they have to officials to investigate!

They were *literally subpoenaed* for it because GA would want to know

But they won't turn it over. Why??
"🤔🤔🤔" Image
18/ Here is a story about that subpoena

ajc.com/politics/subpo…
END/ In the end, D'Souza's #2000Mules is a mix of truth, recycled lies, and a brand new theory that he provides no compelling evidence to support.

I've become well-learned in these allegations.

And this is one of the least convincing yet.

My piece: readtangle.com/otherposts/200…

1/ HELLO: I believe a lot of people are missing the point about Jan. 6th and what the #January6thCommitteeHearings are showing.

The Capitol riots were a horrible stain on our history.

But what led up to them was more dangerous.

To summarize what we now know:
2/ As the last returns began to trickle in on the early morning after election night, Trump's team understood that final results were still days away. Trump responded by announcing prematurely that he had won the election.
3/ When, days after election day, his top data analyst informed the president he was going to lose, he ignored him and insisted the results were wrong or stolen or corrupted.

If you're just waking up, the primary overview:

— Madison Cawthorn loses

— Mehmet Oz in the lead, but race could be headed for a recount

— John Fetterman wins despite news of stroke

— Trump endorsement getting very mixed results yesterday (wins in PA, NC, losses in ID)
— None of the Trump-endorse candidates waltzed. But his endorsement still carried a lot of weight

— Lots of "stop the steal" candidates won narrow victories

— A few races are being moved to 'toss up' or 'lean Dem' because of the primary wins on the Republican side
— One big note, from NC: Cawthorn had name recognition and Trump's backing but still lost. So there is some limit to how far you can go, and he went far. He was not the candidate he ran as by the time he left office: politico.com/news/magazine/…

1/ I'm weirdly seeing a LOT of "The Great Replacement theory is dangerous" discourse and not a lot of explaining why it's *wrong* — which seems a lot more important to me.

So let me give it a swing. 🧵
2/ The central premise of the theory is that Jews/Dems/Libs are “importing” immigrants, specifically nonwhite ones, in a hostile takeover of white America. The idea is that by bringing in minority immigrants Democrats will entrench their political power & transform white America
3/ Quite obviously, but worth noting, migrants are not “imported” by Democrats or liberals or Jews, as folks like Tucker Carlson have claimed. This takes all agency away from immigrants, who are *choosing* to come here for jobs, freedom, safety, etc.

Incredible. @TuckerCarlson claims no president has ever framed another party as a threat to the country... did he sleep through the Trump presidency?

“The radical left is hellbent on destroying everything we love and cherish." - Donald Trump at a Florida campaign speech in 2020 Image
“Joe Biden and the Democratic socialists will kill your jobs; dismantle your police departments; dissolve your borders, release criminal aliens; confiscate your guns — no more 2nd Amendment, get used to it; destroy your suburbs, and drive God from the public square" — Trump
"They’re enraged and unhinged, out of vengeance, that nobody can believe what they’re doing and where they’re going. They want to punish the middle class, expunge every last trace of traditional values, and replace the American dream with a socialist nightmare." - Donald Trump

I don't think Tucker is responsible for this shooter's actions any more than Maddow is responsible for the GOP baseball shooter.

But this content is reprehensible. And it's undeniable that the ideology is rooted in fear of immigrants, POC, etc.

The connection is not subtle!
The appropriate framing here is that Tucker's shows, and the ideologies he create, have an obvious endgame: Hatred of people that look and sound unlike your standard white American.

This is why ppl are right to be upset about what he does on his show over and over again.
Best case scenario of Tucker pushing the non-Jew version of the great replacement theory is that his viewers feel more and more antagonistic toward immigrants and people of color, and more and more threatened by liberals/Democrats. Best case.

Since people are still discussing the (much less important) story of the leaker... let me just say a few things:

1. Not at all clear to me who benefits most from this leak.
2. Not at all clear to me that a liberal clerk would be more likely to leak this.
3. Not at all clear...
... that this decision is final and won't change. I think it's *likely*, but it's not 100%.

4. A conservative clerk may have leaked this opinion as a celebratory move just as easily as a liberal clerk may have leaked it to tank the vote.
5. A conservative clerk may have leaked this to lock the vote in just as easily as a liberal clerk may have leaked it to impact the vote.
6. It may have not been a clerk! A justice? A family member of a justice?
