I don't care what's wrong with the Democratic candidate(s). I don't care what they've done personally, or which issue or which vote you disagree with.
If Republicans are allowed to gain power again, America is done.
It's not just this election. It's every one forevermore.
You might not approve of someone's personality or stance on some particular issue. It may even be an issue that might be awful for you personally.
It doesn't matter. This is bigger than you.
If we don't all hang together, we will surely all hang separately.
Don't tell me anything about the dangers of "single party rule" or any fault of the DNC. Fascism is worse.
Unless you've lived in an autocratic state, you cannot conceive of the horrors in store for us all.
If you disapprove of "single party rule," know this: We already have only one (1) viable political party. The other one is not a political party. It's a criminal fascist racist white supremacist cult. If it's not defeated, everything you value is dead.
YOU can change it. You can save the world.
It won't be easy. Nothing worthwhile ever is. It will take decades. It will take your dedication, for the rest of your life.
Fascism can't be stopped. It can only be thwarted, one step at a time.
There will always be those who want to rule you, who want to take away your rights, who want to take away and destroy all you value.
Your choice is to fight, or to surrender. That is your only choice.

Articles like this miss the point. Yes, Republicans lie. They gaslight. They're hypocrites. Fascists can't be honest about the authoritarianism they push. Pointing out their dishonesty doesn't sway anyone, because their supporters love them for that. They think it's clever.
Yes, Alito's pretense that he's overturning Roe to give the power to decide about abortion's legality "back" to "the people" is a clear lie, because he is shredding voting rights in such obvious ways that he clearly doesn't give a damn about the opinions of "the people".
2/6
But that's not the point. The point is, fascists make up any damn shit that suits their purpose, and their reasons never matter. They want you to argue over their "reasons" and point out their "hypocrisy," because they don't care about that. It's distraction and deflection.

I'm tired of Twitteratti insisting something "MUST HAPPEN!" when they know it is something that will absolutely positively never ever happen.
It's a way of generating rage and distracting you from what CAN happen. It's completely insidious.
1/3
If your energy is going into something that will definitely not ever happen, you won't be thinking about what CAN happen and what YOU CAN DO to MAKE it happen--which means you won't try to do it, and so NOTHING will happen, and you will instead chase invisible butterflies.
2/3
And since what "MUST HAPPEN!" does not ever happen, the screamer can then insist "NOTHING EVER HAPPENS!" and generate not only rage but also cynicism and defeatism.
The point is to make you give up and allow fascism.
To rescue women's reproductive rights from the reactionary and out-of-control Supreme Court, we must do it legislatively, which means we have to hold the House and add Democratic seats in the Senate.
There are 21 Republican-held Senate seats on the ballot this November, and only 14 Democratic Seats. Six Republicans are retiring, and only one Democrat.
We have a good chance for pickups in several states.
A lesson everyone should learn about the Supreme Court:
People used to complain that "nine unelected judges" can affect every aspect of American life. The implication there is that we are helpless observers, and the Court can do what it wants to do to us.

Well yes, they can change our lives in the most drastic ways--but they hold their positions because of American elections.
Roe is about to be reversed because too many people did not vote for Democratic Senatorial candidates and the 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate.
2/6
Roe is being reversed as a direct result of the last two decades of American elections.
Lots of us tried to warn America back in 2016 that Roe was endangered--and a whole bunch of other stuff, too.

It is the goal of fascism to de-legitimize as much of the mechanism of democracy as possible--because the alternative is fascism.
So when you hear anyone advocating extreme measures to get us out of our current messes, be aware "extreme measures" are a surrender.
1/9
If you resort to "extreme measures" (example: governing by executive order), you're admitting democratic norms and institutions do not work.
The fix is not to break the mechanism of democracy more. The fix is to elect more Democrats.

"But gerrymandering! But vote suppression!"
Yes, those are real problems, which exist because not enough citizens who value democracy voted for candidates who support democracy (i.e., Democrats).
Fixing the problems thus caused cannot be done in a single election cycle.
