183 years old painting of 5th century rock excavated cave of #Buddhist Vihara ( monastery ) at Ajanta in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra was painted in 1839 AD. The cave is richly decorated with sculptures, and columns are elaborately carved with scrollwork and jeweled motifs.

In ancient time #Vadnagar in #Gujaarat was an important pilgrimage of #Buddhism with many Chaitya & Vihar. In 640 AD, Chinese #Buddhist traveller Hieu-en-Tsiang visited Anandpur (Vadnagar). He wrote details of this ancient city in his travelogue.
