DoD chapter 13 part 1 released... at some point today... in Japanese! Summary thread below:

The chapter opens on alarm bells ringing in a prison as Party jailers run through the halls. A prisoner is escaping, and they need to find him! They can't let *him* get away! The prisoner eventually climbs out of a manhole outside the prison and finds - #hypspoiler

- someone waiting for him. In fact, this person orchestrated his escape! They introduce themselves, and both of these names are interesting for different reasons. #hypspoiler

The prisoner is called Higashinashi, which means "not east" and is written with the kanji for west, south, and north LOL. The person who helped bust him out is actually none other than Samatoki's old friend Yakumo Shimozuru (see DH/BAT chapter 7). #hypspoiler

And no... that's not a typo. In DH/BAT chapter 7, his name is pronounced Yagumo, but they appear to have changed the reading here. I'm not sure if this is on purpose or a mistake, but it's definitely a thing! #hypspoiler

At any rate, Yakumo helped Higashinashi escape from prison because he wants Higashinashi's help in bumping off a certain individual.

Said individual (or so we can safely assume his identity) is currently having his ass handed to him in a card game against Sasa + co. #hypspoiler

MCD is playing a game wherein the loser is required to buy the others lunch. Unfortunately, this means that lunch is courtesy of Samatoki's wallet. Kuukou and Sasara immediately jump to order the most expensive sushi they can, while Ichirou orders a pizza. #hypspoiler

The group pigs out, and while they're lying around afterwards in a food coma, they catch a TV broadcast announcing a serial killer (Fukurou Higashinashi) that recently escaped death row. #hypspoiler

He was responsible for a string of murders called the "sound of death" that happened 10 years ago. Spooky stuff! The group discusses him briefly (Samatoki says Chuuouku ain't shit if they can't contain him) before going back to important topics like tomorrow's lunch. #hypspoiler

Meanwhile, Higashinashi and Yakumo are hanging out in an abandoned building somewhere. Higashinashi has a knife and tells Yakumo to bring him to the guy Yakumo wants him to kill so that he can get the job done already. But knifing this dude won't make Yakumo happy. #hypspoiler

Instead, he swaps Hgsns's knife out with a mic. Ykm starts to explain how to use it, but Hgsns cuts him off. Hgsns knows how to use a Hypmic. In fact, he says that he was forced to use the mics and have the mics used on him before they were perfected. #hypspoiler

Ykm is surprised. Hgsns's a victim of human experimentation? Yeah, says Hgsns. Back then, the people using mics kept having weird stuff happen to their brains or ended up dropping like flies. Wait. So then how come Hgsns is okay? #hypspoiler

Hgsns says that he was all fucked up mentally to begin with, so it didn't cause him any problems. Yakumo does not look entirely relieved. Just then, a group of Party officers kicks down the door. They're here to take him down! However, Hgsns isn't scared. #hypspoiler

In fact, what a perfect opportunity to try out his new weapon.

The scene cuts to a Kuujaku Posse training session... or, well, it *was* a training session before Yotsutsuji got too tired and flopped on the ground. He can't do it! He's just not cut out for rapping! #hypspoiler

Ramuda says it's too early to tell! He should keep at it and focus on trying hard everyday. (The effect of this pep talk is somewhat mitigated by the fact that he's poking Yotsutsuji's cheeks the whole time.) Jakurai chimes in too, saying Rome wasn't built in a day. #hypspoiler

But, Yotsutsuji points out as he gets up, Jakurai became a good rapper super quickly. Jakurai helps Yttj up and says he's still learning too.
Ramuda is then distracted by his phone going off. It's his least favorite oneesan, and he excuses himself to take the call. #hypspoiler

Ichijiku asks if Ramuda knows Higashinashi. Yeah, says Ramuda, the escaped convict on the news? Ichijiku tells Ramuda to "take care of him". Ramuda asks why, but Ichijiku tells him it's none of his business, like usual. However, she adds, this man is very strong. #hypspoiler

In light of that, she advises Ramuda to bring Jakurai with him. Ramuda stares at his phone in shock.

Meanwhile, all of the Party officers are now lying defeated on the floor of the abandoned building as Higashinashi stands over them and laughs in triumph. #hypspoiler

Over in Ikebukuro, Sasara's chilling in Samatoki's office and complaining about how there's so little going on right now. Oh, that reminds him! How about getting a drink in Asakusa? Samatoki is suspicious that this is a ploy to get free drinks, - #hypspoiler

- but Sasara says they'll go halvsies. Well, in that case, Samatoki's down to go... but just then, the office door opens and Yakumo comes in, followed by a man in a hood. See, Yakumo's got a bone to pick with Samatoki. #hypspoiler

Back in DH/BAT chapter 7, Yakumo betrayed Samatoki to run off with the Tobaris, and apparently Samatoki's been telling people that Yakumo is a backstabber. Because of that, no one wants Yakumo in their gangs anymore. Sasara asks if he's learned his lesson now. #hypspoiler

Oh, he's learned his lesson all right. And that's why he's here to pay it right back. Samatoki laughs, since Yakumo only has one man with him. Then the man pulls off the hood, and it's Higashinashi! Samatoki and Sasara look scared. Maybe they're the ones outmatched! #hypspoiler

Meanwhile, Ramuda's reflecting over the phone call. Apparently, this man defeated the powerful Kotosarai squad. What kind of power does he have? Jakurai sees Ramuda in a thoughtful mood and asks what's wrong. Ramuda says nothing's wrong. #hypspoiler

If anything, he's happy to have Jakurai's help! But of course, says Jakurai. He isn't about to let Ramuda go fight dangerous criminals on his own. Ramuda makes a joke out of this, striking a superhero pose, but Jakurai mostly ignores that. #hypspoiler

He instead asks how Ramuda knows Higashinashi is in Ikebukuro. Ramuda laughs and says a really scary, mean lady told him. Jakurai sighs fondly and says, "I can see you don't want to talk about."
R: But it's true! Jakurai, you're terrible! #hypspoiler

Ramuda goes back to thinking. Since Yakumo is with Higashinashi, that must mean that his targets are Samatoki and Sasara.

The scene then cuts to Samatoki's office, wherein S+S are taking a bad beating. Higashinashi is just too powerful! #hypspoiler

Sasara realizes that this is going nowhere good, so he grabs Samatoki by the arm and yanks him away. They need to run, and now!
