When you come abroad as an immigrant, a lot of times you have to start from scratch. When I was a labourer in UK construction, I used to go to the site office. I see people using double monitors, I used to wonder if that could ever be me. The person signing my timesheet was

Understanding how credit works when you move abroad is very important. If you use it well, it can be the foundation for building wealth. The first credit card I got in the UK was around £100, today I have cards with a couple of thousand n able to afford a mortgage and more...🧵

When you move here, financial institutions don't know you, this was why I couldn't get a mobile phone contract then. So you have to be visible to them and also show them you can manage debt. Debt/Credit is a double-edged sword, that can make or ruin us, so we must be careful.

Maintenance from the govt and all that. The ones that have graduated will have their first mortgages, cars and good credit. When I was couch surfing, I had a friend that had mortgage,car. I read up on it and I knew it will take a while. You can't bypass the process/system

There are some parties you won't be able to go, because you are working after school to get extra cash. We stay laser focus on our goals. You don't feel inferior too because you understand the advantage they have,your children will have that advantage too if you don't blow things
