At the panel session this morning, we first identified some electoral hotspots in Ekiti using historical background of violence in such areas and other factors. Some of these hotspots include:
Ikole LGA with the following specific areas Ipao, Igede, Iyemero Oke Ako cos of the porous border with Kogi and Kwara State
Other hotspots include Ekiti East specifically Omuo, Gbonyin with special focus on Aisegba Ekiti. Irepodun/Ifelodun with special focus on Iworoko, Oye LGA.
Some of the triggered factors include:
Use of security operatives in collaboration with thugs to disrupt the process..
Use of NURTW/RTEAN/OKADA associations as thugs during election.
Use of cultists
Drug abuse
Vote selling/buying
Absence of sanctions against electoral offenders etc
In our final submission, beyond advocacy on vote not fight campaign, emphasis was on the need to arrest and prosecute sponsors of electoral violence so as to serve as deterence if not, we will continue to have same ugly situation all the time.
Ebonyi & Ekiti were created in 1996 by late Sanni Abbacha.
I stumbled on some data in the middle of the night while doing some reading & I'm not sorry to say this,we've been unfortunate with visionary set of leaders in Ekiti state.
I've gone through your review on Engr Kayode Ojo and I will love to make certain points. In the latest interview he did, he clearly stated his visions some of which you highlighted in your review. But let us break them down.
For years, Ekiti seems not to have any DEVELOPMENT MASTER PLAN. If we do, I'm sure they are outdated. The current administration is working on one. For sake of continuity and sustainability, he promised to review it and harmonise with his own. Fair enough.
Specifically, he gave a timeline of 6 months to review the ongoing Development Master Plan of Ekiti by the current administration, harmonise with the one his team is working on and we can then have a robust Development Master Plan for the state.
In the last few days, Mr @Olayinkalere has been spreading one news about @ekitistategov selling the Ekiti House at Asokoro Abuja.
As usual, the news has been spreading like fire & my Egbon @leespanyol just put it on his TL.
First, it is nothing but Fake news.
Thread.
Note: I don't work with the state govt so I expect them to issue official statement in due course.
However, Egbon Lere is known for fake news and most of our people can easily buy this news.
The onus is on people like us to find out the truth and set the record straight.
So let us look at the House in question. The Ekiti House that Lere is claiming to have been sold was bought by Segun Oni's administration. The house was renovated to suit the taste of the then govt.
After Oni left office, Fayemi used the house in 1st term for 4years.
When people call our helplines for food support, you will hear something like "sebi nah un nah talk sey make we sit down at home".
Apparently, we ain't government. Honestly, we wish we can take care of every request #EkitiFoodHub
In the last 5days, our mini call center at @GenderMobileNG received average of 300 calls across the 16 LGAs in Ekiti State per day. In other words, we've received an average of 1,500 calls in the last 5days from people asking for food items.
We anticipated for more demands. We were ready for the task. We put in place a team of young, vibrant and commited youth in Ekiti. They were ready to take food items to the door steps of our beneficiaries #EkitiFoodHub
Going by my little findings from the "agbagbas" in respect of the Obas Vs Ekiti state government, I think the Governor might need to apply some wisdom.
Thread.
So, let us start with the emergence of "Pelupelu Obas". Who are these Obas?
From my findings, these "Pelupelu Obas" are the direct descendants of Oduduwa and they include: 1. Owa Obokun of Ijesha 2. Alaye of Efon Alaye 3. Owa Oye of Okemesi 4. Alara of Aramoko
5. Ajero of Ijero Ekiti 6. Olojido of Ido 7. Oore of Otun 8. Oloye of Oye Ekiti 9. Onitaji of Itaji Ekiti 10. Elekole of Ikole Ekiti 11. Ewi of Ado 12. Ologotun of Otun Ekiti 13. Aarinjile of Ise 14. Elemure of Emure 15. Ogoga of Ikere 16. Deji of Akure
Aregbe had lost his popularity in the 2nd term. APC had already been divided. Oyetola wasn't that popular.
PDP had one single job to do. Put your house in order and get a credible candidate that can appeal to the conscience of the people.
No, they brought Michael Jackson.
I'm not saying Osun election was perfect but hey, PDP could have won that election with a more serious and credible candidate hands down plus putting their house in order.
How many serious minded folks in Osun will even vote for Michael Jackson.
What u get is apathy.
Will my PDP folks tell me that the best candidate they could have presented in Osun is Michael Jackson.
Are u guys actually serious or u just want to take people for a ride.
